  • Carnuaba

I really like the looks of Meg's combo of #7, #26 and #16. I live in Yuma Arizona and the temps here during the summer easily exceed 100 degrees, I have heard that at certain temperatures that carnauba will flash-off. Can anyone confirm this and if so what would you recommend using during the summer months

I am considering using a cleaner/wax for the summer as it cleans the paint and offer some protection, possibly a weekly routine.

    Your input/comments would be appreciated.

Carnauba evaporates faster in high heat so this means more frequent application or use of a sealant. I've read that on a black car the heat from the sun can cause the paint to reach temperatures over 180

I've read that on a black car the heat from the sun can cause the paint to reach temperatures over 180 degrees F, the temperature at which carnauba melts. Carnauba flash points are a lot higher though. The sun will not cause the carnauba to flash or go away instantly.

I'd suggest trying #7 followed by NXT Teach Wax or #21 Synthetic Sealant in the hot months and see how you like it.

jfelbab, is the combo of #7 and #21 what you use down in Cape Coral? I used to use just #21. I recently tried the #7, #26 combo and really liked it. btw I'm in New Port Richey, Fl. . About 2 hrs north of you. I was not aware of this info about carnuba. I appreciate the advice. With summer coming i will go with #7 and #21. Thanks again for the info.

I spend my winters in Cape Coral (another snowbird) and that is what I used this winter. I have been using #7 with NXT and like it a lot too. IMHO, NXT yields a slightly better initial shine than does #21 but the high degree of shine does not last as long as #21. Both are very nice over #7. Both go on and come off very easily.

I appreciate the info, I will have to give the #21 a try!
