  • How many coats?

I drive a 2000 Corvette, color Dark Bowling Green metallic. I washed, clay bar and applied 2 coats of wax with Meguiar's Next Generation Tech Wax. The car shines in sunlight with still some small micro scratches. How many coats of wax can you apply before it is not effective? Will more coats of tech wax help to remove the micro scratches. Can I use my porter cable buffer with a microfiber cover to buff the car after waxing to remove micro scratches.

    1. 2 coats of wax is what you want.

    2. No, you will need a paint cleaner, such as ScratchX by hand, or #80, #83 by PC to remove scratches/swirls.

    3. No, the scratches are in the paint. But yo ucna use the PC wit ha 7006 pad+microfiber bonnets to remove the excess wax after yo uapply it.

In order to remove swirls and scratches out of an automotive finish you need to remove a little paint. That is you need to use a product with the ability to abrade the paint in an effort to level the surface with the lowest depths of the defects you're trying to remove.

If you have a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher than all you need now is a paint cleaner or a cleaner/polish and a few polishing pads like our W-8006 polishing pads.
