We just had a hard rain last night and today on my hood I see large, dirty water spots all over. You figure with a nice hard rain it should dry nice but it looks like I have so much wax the water doesn't run off it just accumulates on the hood making a mess.

The dirty water spots are from dirt and dust and pollen, etc, that was on the surface, or landed in the water droplets as they were drying. So the cleaner your car was before the rain, the less spots you would get.

Between Sunday and Monday night, my car got enough dirt on it that I have lots of those spots as well. I guess I'll wait till Thursday or something and just wash it off in the rain...

You know it is being from Pittsburgh! I just cleaned her the night before and she was all shined up. Hard to believe that much dust could get on the surface when I only had it outside for the 8 hours I worked.

Thats nothing compared to Oklahoma. You can work on half the car and by the time your done the whole thing is dusty. Stupid Oklahoma wind. I don't even have to wait until the next day, literally, while I am working on it the dust just starts piling up.

I agree with Murr.... you would be surprised how quick dirt and dust will accumulate on the surface of a vehicle. You will really see it on black or a darker colored car. After washing my vehicle, I pull it in the garage and dry, just about as soon as I am done drying dust particles are accumulating on the surface and they are quite easy to see.

The only problem you are going to come across with 'too much wax' is during application/removal. If you apply too much wax it can become difficult to remove and streak.
