  • my first 5 step process!!!

welp guys...after reading on the forum, i decided its time to plunge into this detailing thing...after buying a new 07 xterra a couple weeks ago, i decided i need to keep it in top shape...i also have an 04 honda civic i havent waxed well um since i got it ...anyhow i started on the civic at around 11 pm last saturday (live in an apt so went to the car wash late to bucket wash)...this was my regimen...

    1. Gold Class car wash, dried with chamois
    2. Smooth surface clay kit over entire car (WOW, this stuff reallllllyyyyy works, it made my car smooth as glass, except for some parts on the front bumper which are actual paint dings from rocks on the highway)
    3. Deep Crystal paint cleaner
    4. Deep Crystal system polish
    5. NXT Generation Tech Wax paste - 2 light coats
    6. Hot Shine Tire spray

this definately revitalized my car...it looks awesome...despite all the rain!!!!

i ended at 5 am...ouch!...but it was worth it...although after all this hard work, it rained sunday and today ...but thats ok...the water beaded off like a charm...

my question now is...in between waxes now, should i use the NXT surface detailer, or the NXT spray wax? what are the pros and cons of both of them? thanks in advance!!!

next weekend, it will be time for the Xterra...that big thing is gonna take a while, but all i will have to do is clean, polish, wax...clay shouldnt be neccesary...

They are two very different products for two different purposes.

NXT speed detailer is for removing light dirt and dust. It also adds a bit of slickenss.
NXT spray wax is for touching up the finish, adding shine, protection and a bit of slickness.

Glad it went so well for you. Incidently, you still might want to clay the Xterra, never know what it might have on it already, or at least do a few test spots. And dont forget you can clay glass ,trim, etc as well.

As far as maintenance, Sneek got ya pretty covered there. But the Spray Wax is only for after washing, while the Detailer can also be used to remove bird droppings, big bugs, hard water drops, etc. So you definately want one of the Detailers around.

Did anyone bother you and thought you were crazy polishing up your car 3 in the morning?

And to answer your question, I don't think you need to do anything in between NXT paste wax, it is actually better to leave them along. Although you could top some #16 or #26 on top of NXT.
