  • Hello....new member here....

    Hey all
    I drive a 2007 BMW X5 3.0si and a 2004 SAAB 9-3 Convetible.

    That's my baby!

Anyways, I like to take good care of my cars. I don't usually fuss over the exterior, but I am obsessive over the interior.
So I was wondering if it is ok to just wipe down some dirty areas on the exterior with a microfiber cloth and not use any liquid. Should I use a "quick detailer" to prevent scratching?
But for the interior, I currently use "Blue Magic" leather cleaner and "Blue Magic" leather condtioner. Is this stuff any good? I want to find a good multi purpose wipe/spray that will be good on most interior surfaces, cleaning them, but not making it overly shiny. I would use it on the lower part of the doors, footwells, interior plastic and buttons. Is any Megs product good for this?

    Thanks.

shouldve got the 4.8...... hahahha..... but still nice ride.....

no its not ok to wipe down a car w/o quik detailer.... the point of the quik detailer is to lift the dirt and fresh contaminants off the paint and to lubricate them as the towel slides across the paint so that it would not scratch the paint....

anyway for interior i think the APC (all purpose cleaner) works pretty good.... i havent tried it though.... but i always hear good reviews about it on here....

Yes, definitely use a quick detailer. Without some kind of lubricant, you're just dragging the dirt around on the clear coat... which isn't much different than trying to clean it off with a piece of sandpaper.

There are a ton of quick detailers out there, and they all work pretty well. I've finally settled on Final Inspection from the professional line. The spray bottle's got the perfect mist to it, and the pink color makes it easy to see both how much junk you're pulling off the paint and when you need a fresh towel.

If you don't want to go hunting down the professional products, Meguiar's Quik Detailer available at just about every department or auto parts store works great and is about half the price of Final Inspection.

If you're just looking for cleaning power, Quick Interior Detailer (consumer line) is great. Comes in wipes (super convenient) or spray, and does an excellent job cleaning most interior surfaces. It only offers minimal protection, so if you want to protect your interior surfaces for the long haul, you need something else in addition.

Hopefully someone else can chime in about protectants; I've been using Water-Based Dressing from the Detailer line, but availability on that's kind of limited. If you can get it, though, it works beautifully diluted 1:1 and wiped on.

Nice rides you have there. I would go with a quik detailer product. Welcome to mol.

If my cars are just dusty I will use a california car duster and watch closely, 4 yrs 3 cars never had a problem. If the car gets more then dusty I will use a QD such as Ultimate QD or M135. I usually use the QD every other day and the duster every night when I get home from work.
