  • newbie to waxing

i just got myself a bottle of NXT liquid wax .. but i'm afraid of gettting started cuz i'm not sure how to do it :P any tips/suggestions? am i supposed to apply the wax to a damp or dry applicator? after waxing, do i just rinse the applicator to wash it and then let it dry b4 next use? can i spray the car immediately after waxing to remove excess wax residues? or must i wait 24hrs for it to cure first b4 watering it ? any help would be great .. thanks

Your going to want to use a dry applicator for applying a wax. I would suggest using a High-Tech Applicator Pad for applying the NXT Tech Wax. After waxing, rinse it in hot water with a little dish soap and let it set in the water for a while, then squeeze the excess product out, then let them air dry. Once the wax is dry, use The Swipe Test to tell, wipe the hazed wax off with a Supreme Shine Microfiber.

    Does this help a little??

Well, i suggest just reading more. There is a lot of great information to read and absorb.

Is a great place to start.

For wax, applicator personal preference i go with a dry pad.

It depends on the pad. If it is clean which it should be if you followed the above link's steps, i put it in a zip lock bag and label it with its corresponding product i used on it.

The bags keep them good especially if you squeeze the pad and get all the air it almost like vacuum seals it. ha

Also, use a good microfiber like the supreme shine and there will not be and excess wax residue to be removed by washing off. But, if your concerned you could quik detail it.

      just one persons modest opinion.

Incidently, you will tend to get even better results if doing some prep work before waxing. Read the 5-step link that jashgtp posted, and you will see what the prep work can inlove.

If you wanted to simplify things starting off, applying a good cleaner/wax beforethe Nxt wax would give good results. Just follow a process like this:

          1. Wash - Good car wash soap like Nxt or Gold Class, two buckets, good quality sponges/towels.

          2. Clay - Smooth Surface Clay kit

          3. Cleaner/wax - ColorX

          4. Wax - Nxt Wax

Hope that gives you some ideas to look into...

If I'm not mistaken a small bottle of Cleaner/Wax is included in the Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

Thats true. It is a mild cleaner, but certainly can use it.
