  • Polishing exhaust tips?

The exhuast tips on my car are not in good shape. They are not chrome and I have no idea if they were polished to begin with. Car is a 93 BMW 525i.

So what would I go about doing to polish them and make them shine?

Sorry but this is the best picture I have atm:

Oh...just bout bought some Mag and Alum. polish and that stuff ROCKS compared to the other brand I was using. Cinnamon smell FTW! Doesn't irritate your hands either! Used it on my wheels, which I stupidly sprayed some wheel cleaner meant for coated wheels only to realize that mine were just polished, and it took all the marks (right term?) from the cleaner right out and left a good shine!

Give NXT Metal Polish a try. Works wonders on the many surfaces I've tried......aluminum, stainless steel, sterling & silver plate, brass, etc.

The Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish should be comparable to the Nxt Metal Polysh, but I am not sure off hand if the Mag and Aluminum is clear coat safe or not. So you can use the Hot Rims M&A for your exhaust first on its own, and see what happens. Maybe try to find a nice stiff bit of terry cloth to apply it with.

You might want to read some of the recent threads about using #0000 steel wool on your exhaust, and then following up with Hot Rims M&A. I wouldnt use it for a good polished exhaust, but yours look pretty baked on , or never polished, so maybe the wool would do the trick.

I dont know how the steel wool would turn out though, you should try a spot on the underside back near the muffler first if you want to try it.
