GC trim detailer vs. #39 or #40

Hi,

i just used GC trim detailer to remove #80 and NXT from rubber exterior trimming...i worked on a small area...so far so good....wondering if either #39 or #40 would be more effective??

As GC trim detailer is easily accessible in most auto stores...harder to get the other products...

#39 is very effective at removing wax and polish residue. #40 will get a little of it off, but not everything.

After an application of #39, be sure to put a dressing over it.

M39 is a dedicated vinyl cleaner so it's going to break up and dissolve the dried product and agitating the M39 with a toothbrush will greatly help.

M40 is a vinyl dressing with some cleaning ability so it will work much the same as M39 but won't offer the same strong cleaning or dissolving action, but it will work.

Gold Class Trim Detailer is a rich creamy lotion dressing with light cleaning ability, but if you apply it to stained trim and agitate it, then it will act to help loosen and break-up the dried product and you to remove it. Again use a toothbrush or some type of soft brush.

Mike, I tried #39 followed by #40 with a soft toothbrush and I have very luck removing wax residue. What I'm I doing wrong? No matter what I use, everything seems to just cover up untill after a washing or rain.

Spray #39 on the area and let it sit until it is almost dry. Then, use a toothbrush to scrub at it. I like to spray the brush with #39 when scrubbing. Spend some time and use some force. Once all the wax is gone, you can apply the dressing.

i used to use M40 and now its M39. so much faster and easier.

another quick question...what should be used to remove white wax, or #80 from door jams and panel lines???..a toothbrush only???

Do you mean like between the trunk lid and the quarter panels??? If it is a panel gap, I usually use wadded microfiber towel. This trick is probably not approved by Meguiar's, but for permanent jabs and small gaps, an old credit card or gift card works well. It doesn't scratch the paint and doesn't leave any marks.

I use the Triple Duty Detail Brush or the Slidelock Brush in between panel gaps.
