  • Black Marks on Paintwork

    Hi Guys,

Today I bought some Meguiars Gold Car and Meguiars Wax/Cleaner which I have used on my car this afternoon.

The car has come up really well but I have noticed lots of black speckles which do come off if you pick them but most of them were pretty stuburn so I didnt want to pick them and end up scratching them. Unfortunately the Wax/Cleaner hasn't removed these so I was wondering if you guys could suggest anything I could use that may remove them?

    Many thanks,
    Dan

    One word. "Clay".

I second the word. Give clay a try.

I wish I'd known about clay last summer when one of the local paving companies was resurfacing the main road out of my development on a windy day. My wife drove by on the opposite side of the divided parkway... and still got her white Accord plastered with small airborn tar particles. Bug and tar cleaner got them off but not without considerable elbow grease-- what they call passion around here.

Yes, clay, and you may need a more dedicated cleaning step, like swith Deep Crsytal #1 at least.

And if they look like tar, you might want to give the a spray with some Bug and Tar remover first just for the heck of it.

The cleaner/wax is a very mild cleaner, so if your car hasnt been as cared for in a while, the seperate cleaning step might be good as well. After that, cleaner/wax topped with Gold Class is a nice quick combo.

Keep in mind that bug and tar removers, and claying would remove wax, so you would have to reapply your waxes as well.
