  • Meguiar's #16 Paste Wax: Where to find?

I know #16 paste wax was discontinued. Are there any places left to find it? If I do find any, what's a fair price today?

    What are/were it's benefits over #26?

I assume it was discontinued because of VOC compliance?

    Yes, its about the VOC.
You should get #16 on Ebay.com or in europe detailer shops..

Guess It's hard to get it in the US, but I don't know how many of those cans are still available in Mexico.

the only problem is that if you get it here, it would cost you an approximate of US$30 or more.

so I'll try to get some info regarding M16 down here.

I don't really know too much about M16's benefits. The only one I remember is that it lasts longer, and it's harder to use. still the shine is way good.

      hope this Helps

I'm sure that most sources in the States are all dried up, and if there are any cans left, they're probably sitting in a box in the corner of some shop, completely forgotten about. Supposedly they're selling for up to $60 a can on ebay. You can also look for a Canadian seller who will ship to the US, because it is still manufactured and sold outside of the US.

Its hard to say what its benefits are over #26. Probably mostly durability, but I think a lot of its mystique has to do with the fact that its very old, and a lot of people grew up using this stuff, so it has a lot of nostalgiac value. Not to say its not a good wax, but I don't think its worth searching the globe for. #26 is great stuff, I'd just keep using that.

Yes, it was discontinued because of VOC compliance.

eshine.ca is the place to get it. Sign up for their news letter, once a month I think they have a sale on it. Enjoy.

They only stopped selling it in the US, mainly because of California's very strict air quality laws. They still make it and export it to other countries

                    Hey JMatt,

There are number of fantastic MOL members that will sell you some. I've purchased two cans of #16 and one can of the hard to find #19. I usually pay $25 for the wax and shipping.

As for eBay, the seller that normally sells #16 is pretty good. He usually sells #16 about every two weeks. The price really varies. I've seen it go for $27 to $30 and I've also seen it get down to $15. It depends on who sees the auction I guess.

I live in Southern Indiana, so Indy isn't that far away. Have fun trying to find the #16!

For starters, check with all of the big warehouse type automotive parts houses. Then check with the PBE stores. Thats where I have found them as recent as a few months ago. One PBE store said they had some in another store quite a ways away. With shipping it would have been about 14 a can. You would be surprised what you might find close by.

and if you do find it, one can will last like 100 years so unless you're collecting it, you only need a can...it's great wax and spreads very easily on a well prepped vehicle but needs to go on THIN...otherwise she's difficult to remove...
