It has a lot of acronyms:

PC
DA
G100

But at the end of the day it's a Dual Action (DA) which means it spins/moves in two directions, it's manufactured by the Porter Cable (PC) company and the Meguiars model number is a G100...Porter Cable's number is 7424...whatever you refer to it as, it's a must have if you want the best results....clearer ??

For what it's worth, it's a tool that was originally designed to sand wood, it just so happens that about 30 to 50 years ago Meguiar's offered a small foam pad affixed to a plastic backing plate with a 5/16 shank on the other side of the backing plate that enabled people in the body shop industry to attach them to an Air Powered Dual Action Sander.

Back in the late 80's or the early 90's someone at Meguiar's found this tool, (The Porter Cable Dual Action Sander), and discovered you could attach this same pad we designed and sold into the body shop industry onto this electric polisher so the average person with a 110 volt electrical plug-in could get the same swirl removing results people in the body shop industry were getting without having to own a larger air compressor.

Porter Cable is the Brand name. I own quite a few Porter Cable tools, both Air powered and electric and I think there one of the best brands out there.

Now that i have my g100 don't believe I will ever do a car by hand again.
