Re: wax on younger than 30 days paint?

so, would this product line up sound good:
    M00 Hi Tech Wash
    M26 Hi Tech wax
    M34 Final Inspection
    M07 Show Car Glaze

as of today, paint is 44 days old
so I'll round up the #26,#07,and #00 ,(already have the #34) and do it up when I get it out for it's first drive after paint

I still got to figure out how to protect the semi gloss black trim pieces

Re: wax on younger than 30 days paint?

I guess I'm the oddball here. (Sure isn't the first time!) But it seems like everybody is always in a huge hurry to put wax on new paint. Wash, clean and polish are fine, you can do those before the car leaves the paint shop so anytime after is no problem. But wax is a long term maintenance product.

Personally, if the paint manufacturers say to wait for finishes to cure before waxing then that's what I would want to do. If they recommend a specific waiting period then I'd want to give the finish the best start in life I possibly could. I'd rather err on the conservative side by waiting at least that long or longer.

Does that make any sense? Am I nuts? Uh, let me rephrase that, am I way off base?

I know that painters practically never tell the customer what paint they use unless you question them relentlessly. And even if they do they're likely to just tell you the manufacturer's name, not the specific system used (every company makes dozens). And if they do tell you anything about waiting they practically always give you their own personal opinion, not the manufacturer's recommendation.

If I had no idea at all about what paint was used or what the manufacturer recommends I would still want to be conservative and wait the longest time of any manufacturer.

That information isn't always obvious but just as a few examples; House of Kolor recommends 60 days, PPG recommends 90 days and DuPont (for their ChromaSystem coatings anyway) says 120 days.

Anyway, that's just me, and I'm an oddball.

        PC,

I agree with you. Why rush it? If one needs to give it shine, just use #7. I am getting my car back with some freshly painted areas (hopefully today). Actually, as I was typing this, I got the call to pick it up. Anyway, I have my fingers crossed that they did a good job. I won't be putting anything but possibly #7 on it until after August 1st. It will hurt not to, but should be better in the long run. Wish me luck. Please.
