  • Which is stronger: New ScatchX or 83 (using G100)

I use ScratchX with LOTS of passion by hand for deeper scratches. I also use 83 with my brand new G-100 for the whole car.

How does scratchX compare to the 83 when using the DA G-100?

(I'm worn out experimenting - has anyone compared?)

    Thanks.

    the following is MY OPINION!!!

the way i see it, scratchX is meant for hand use only. not machine. i'll never see scratch-x as a machine product. not sure why. not yet anyways. and i've used it quite a bit with great results by hand so maybe that's why.

M83 is for machine and better.

its more consistent, the machine can work more evenly than your hand when distributing passion etc...

so i say M83. but why M83. why not try M80 first.

ScratchX has less cut than #83. #83 on the cut scale is 6/10. ScratchX is supposedly close in cut to #82 or #9, which is a 3/10 on the scale.

However, ScratchX can be used by hand on the deeper isolated scratches, where as #83 cannot be used by hand. To remove deep scratches it will take more that one application of ScratchX, it might take 5+ to remove defects if it can remove them at all.

TP is right, why not try #80 first? #80 on the cut scale is a 4/10, so it should be enough to remove most swirls. I don't know what you are working with, so i might be wrong, and #83 maybe the least aggresive product to get the job done.

The new scrachx can be used with a D.A polisher

Detailing cars is a form of art. Most appreciate it, few possess the required skill and even fewer understand it.

Thanks guys, but I've already been down all those roads.

          I've got 83, 80, 9, 7, 20, 26, ColorX, and ScratchX.

My car is looking better and better. I've used ScratchX by hand on the worst stuff. I used 80, then 83 followed by 80 (start with the least agressive and move up if needed.....)

I still have some isolated scratches that don't come out with 83 and the G-100. I was hoping for a G-100 based solution to those scratches rather than hours of rubbing with ScratchX.

And yes - as noted, the NEW formulation of ScratchX is for hand or DA.

That's why I wondered if ScratchX by machine was any stronger than 83.
