  • All Purpose Cleaner v.s All Purpose Cleaner Plus

    hi all,

    which is better and why?

any MAJOR difference between the two in cleaning ability?

easier use for extractors with the Plus or no?

any info and help is greatly appreciated. i'm currently going to buy another gallon but can't decide between which one.

I like APC+ over APC. I don't know if its true or not, but APC+ seems to clean better and it definitely has a better smell. I've used it as a pre-treater for extracting (just spray it on the carpet, let sit for a few minutes, then extract, but using a different chemical solution). I'm almost all out of regular APC and I won't be buying another gallon. APC+ is a keeper!

      a different chemical solution?

you're referring to the extractor's cleaning formula i assume?

Yeah, I just mean I don't pour it directly into the extractor's solution tank with the heated water. I use specific chemicals for that purpose.

yeah most extractors have their own solution don't they.

the one i do does. i have the Bissell.

youjust spray APC on the carpet. let it sit. scrub. then you can use your extractor with its cleaning formula.

          SO WHICH IS BETTER?

            APC+ doesnt foam

            APC does.

APC+ is supposedly better in an extractor.

this is all just from what I read, but I am getting some APC soon!

              yeah igot APC.

i' thinkign i'm going to order APC +

but in an extractor (like the one I got) you have to use the formula designed for the machine.

i'm sure not all are like this but mine is. but picking up is a different story. its the formula you put actually into the extractor.

I have both but so far I have only used APC+ but I just got my spray bottle I needed for the APC so I am going to give it a try soon.

I am with sneek, I have read the same thing.

I've never used APC, but I've used APC+ a lot and it works very well. I use it often to clean engines, upholstry, vinyl, and whatever else presents itself. Definately top-notch stuff.

                    TrufflePig:
It might not be of any importance to you, but the "new" APC has the "unique blend of fabric softeners and optical brighteners that enhance the look and feel of carpet, upholstery, vinyl and even leather" same as in the "old" APC+.
I don't think that is true for the "new" APC+.
The "old" APC+ was one of my favorite products and since the "new" APC seemed to be the replacement, I switched to it. I just mix it up about 10:1 and use it on everything but leather. Seems to do a good job on carpet and upholstery within the limits of the surface cleaning I am able to do.

so the new APC is just like the old APC+ that was really good.

real tempting now on which to get. but i guess for 15 bucks you can't go wrong from ADS can you for the APC+.

Now I'm more confused. The new apc is reformulated, more like apc+. So does this mean the old apc+ is going to be reformulated also. Or is it already?

You don't need a brand specific shampoo for the extractor. The company *recommends* their own line, but that's often because they make the added sale/profit this way.
If you are concerned about the pump, seals, or something reacting to different chemicals, try doing a pre-spray/scrub then extract with clear water. By doing this, you leave less/no shampoo residue in the carpet and you would allow the chemical to dwell a little longer than the few seconds you would let the shampoo solution in the shampooer work. The residue can cause rapid resoiling. (Exception may be the ones that add a "Scotchguard" coating to help prevent future staining.

Sorry, I haven't used the APC nor the APC+, but it sounds like the APC would be better for cloth/upholstery since it has optical brighteners/fabric conditioners. If it foams too much you can add vinegar in the recovery tank to help neutralize the excess foam.

Since I'm not really "in the know" about the two products, I can't say for sure the "New All Purpose CLeaner Plus" is the same as the previous APC+. From the Meguiar's description of the two products, it sounds like very similar products to me.

FWIW, ADS has a 32 oz. APC+ Sampler available for $6.49. It comes in a Meguiar's D-20103 Labeled Bottle with a D-110516 Trigger Sprayer and includes a free 16" x 16" Microfiber Towel. That would give you quite bit of product to try. The spray bottle, sprayer, and MF makes the APC+ pretty inexpensive.

It's also interesting that the "New APC+" doesn't seem to be listed in Meguiar's E-Store. At least I didn't find it.
