  • Red cars.

Hi i've just joined up and I have a question on red cars.
Over the years I've heard a lot of stories about red colored cars will fade faster than any other color.I'm hoping to buy a brand new car this year and I was thinking of buying a red one, although silver and black are the only other colors available for this car(Honda Civic Type R).
Do red cars appear to fade faster than other colors?
I intend to use the car as my daily driver, therefore most of the time it will be outside. It will be under cover from late afternoon until the following morning. I live in a mild climate, although during summer it can get quite hot and sunny.
What concerns me is that I've seen a number of red cars over the years that have looked faded, dull and chalky(white) in appearance .What will I be able to do to protect the paint work if I decide to go ahead with the purchase?
Or should I go for the silver
    Many thanks.

faded red cars usually apply to single stage paints. On a clearcoat car (like most are today) fading isnt as much of a liability

I have owned three red cars that have been parked outside 7/24/365 and I have NEVER had any fading problems and that stems from keeping several coats of wax on the car, and keeping it clean.

Does this look faded too you?

I owned a red pickup truck for 14 years. It was before I used megs exclusively. Wish I had pics. But fading was not a issue.
