What is a good way to help protect the paint on the front of the car on long trips from rocks and bugs or whatever else might be thrown at it. Ive seen people put tape on the front is that a good idea or is there some other tricks?

Re: Protecting paint on long trips.
I know that 3M has a clear plastic that you can have installed on your car. It isnt something you can pick up just anywhere and professional has to do it, but essentially its a bra for the hood, which you cannot see at all. All of my friends have them on their cars. Reason being is that my best friends father owns a Ferarri dealership and this is an option when an owner goes in to buy a Ferarri. So majority of my friends have it on their car...
Essentially its a kinda ruber plastic that they put on the parts of your car most likely to come into contact with rocks, bugs and other small things that hit your car.
Best thing about it is that it wont fade your paint or damage it in anyway.

Re: Protecting paint on long trips.
One of the big touch up paint companies (I think it's dupli colour ?) has a temporary spray on bra. IIRC its black or clear, will hold up to rain, but washes off with soap and water. Looks interesting, but I haven't seen it on any sheles anywhere.

Re: Protecting paint on long trips.
We have also seen many cars on their way to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas with their front end wrapped with multiple layers of cellophane.
It is temporary and easy to install yourself...
Can't comment on the effectiveness, but you would think it would add some form of protection against bugs, rocks etc...
