  • Mixing Waxes

I recently read somewhere that it is bad to mix waxes (apply one coat of regular wax(carnauba) and then another of synthetic) and wanted to know if it is true.

So would applying a carnauba wax (step 3) followed by NXT not be good? Was thinking about doing it because i heard that a pure wax creates a wet look and nxt creates more of a shine, so would the combination of the two give me a wet look shine?

    Thanks

You can layer different products, but if you wanted to use a carnuba wax and NXT you would do a layer of NXT and then the coat of wax on top. Typically, all sealants are applied first and carnubas and put on last as a top coat. This is especially true in the case of using NXT as it has mild cleaning abilities.

It's certainly not bad to mix them, but you may or may not see much of a difference. It all depends on what you use, how critical your eye is, and what your expectations are. You can always experiment on a panel or two with a couple of different combinations. You won't hurt anything.

Otherwise, I agree with kpagel about the order that you should apply synthetics and waxes.

Thanks once again for the replies. Now if I were to use cleaner wax, it would go on before NXT right?
