Can I top ColorX with a sealant other than a Megs product?

Sure.
We can't vouch for how well it will work so you'll be experimenting at this point but in most cases you shouldn't have any problems.
The way to test would be to only apply your second product to test section mapped out on the hood and then inspect and watch this section over time and as you wash the car to see how it reacts.
