    Help a new guy out.

    Hi i have a 06 cobalt SS and i am trying to get some small inperfections out of the paint. The car has 40,000kms on it and has some "spiderwebs" on it on the hood and the front quarter panels have some small scratches all over it. (cant feel the scratches they just look like imperfections in the clear coat from leaning over it when i was working on engine mods.) I would like to get all these out and dont mind spending money to do it. I dont want to just take it to someone as i want to learn how to do it for myself. While im at ti im gonna do the whole car.

    From reading on here i see that the porter cabe 7424 is the dual action buffer of choice. I dont want to buy a rotary as i am not that experienced with the buffer and dont want to screw up my paint.

    so im buying the 7424 tomorow along with some products that ill need.

    so here is the question.....what do i need to buy???????? what kinds of pads do i need for the buffer??? and what scratch remover and polish do i need to get??

    here is what i have so far.

    I have the Meguiars quick clay kit with a QD.
    also the Meguiars step 2 Deep crystal system polish. Now from what i understand this polish will not take scratches, swirls, spiderwebs out of the car. it will just give it a deep glossy look right??
    and for wax i have Meguiars gold class.

    so i need a swirl/scratch remover and paint cleaner right?? could someone recomend me something to get?? scratch X?? or something else.

    also what pads should i use with each of these products???

    Recommended Products - G100a Dual Action Polisher

    Using the G-100 to remove swirls with the Professional Line

    Here's your basics:

    1. Wash - Good quality soap, sponges ,towels, two bucket system.

    2. Clay

    3. Clean - #80 Speed Glaze with 8006 pad is your go to product. If #80 wasnt quite strong enough, you would then use #83 with a 8006 pad, and follow back up with the #80. You will want to do a small test spot/area with #80 + 8006 pad first, to see if it will do the job, or if you need #83.

    4. Optional - DC#2 with 9006 pad

    5. Wax - Gold Class, etc with 9006 pad.

    You could use the new ScratchX if you cant find anything else, but it wont really be quite as cost effective. Yo umay want some on hand anyway though, for spots where the PC wont fit.

          ok thanks for the help. i need to order some new pads and i was going to order from eshine.ca only because i am from canada. i hate all the BS and time it takes for the stuff to go through customs.

          so what is comparable to the 6.5" Meguiars 8006 and 9006 pads??

          also whats the difference in the pads that have a flat bottom and the ones that have a "waffle" type bottom??
