I like to use a quik detailer and from time to time I will apply a cleaner wax.

      Re: Door Jams

I always open each door on the way by with the wash sponge and give it a wipe-- after washing the exterior of the door. I suppose some would fear picking up grit doing that, but if you do it every wash, it stays pretty clean and the Grit Guard and 2-bucket wash method take care of that. I then make sure to give the door seam a good direct rinse.

During drying, I don't open the doors to my good MF or Water Magnet. Instead, I go back later with a small, clean terry cloth and catch the door jams and tires/wheels.

I don't bother with polish in the jams, but I do catch the jams with at least one coat of wax or sealant (currently using #21). I apply this by hand and wipe off with a smaller MF-- not the good stuff. I think catching the jams a couple times a year with the wax is sufficient for my vehicles -- both are daily drivers. The #21 won't clean there, so the cleaner wax, mentioned in the post above, is probably a better bet there long term.

What ever wax you use, be careful not to get it on the rubber gaskets; you don't need to get right next to the rubber -- and inch away will do the job. If you're going to the trouble of cleaning the jams you'll also want to keep the rubber looking sharp (#40 will do that nicely).

i clean door jams with a Terry Towel as it has more bite to it. cleans up the grease (if any) and other stuff quickly.

Thanks for your technique guys. So seems just a good cleaning from time to time and some sealant.

I am asking cos few months back cleaned my sisters 1yr old black car and they weren't that dirty but once I cleaned them seemed nice to be able to open the door of a clean car and see a clean door jam.

What would you guys recommend for cleaning grease seeing as thats the one thing which can sometimes make them hard to clean. Also some people in other forums suggest an old toothbrush or well new one just for this specific task would do and also for the bottom section of doorjam would a old microfibre or terry towel work well with APC.

Would APC do the trick and would hyper dressing work well with the rubber and plastic in the door jam.

yes APC and Hyper Dressing will do the job.

but clean them every time this way you don't have a problem. know what i mean.

i just use a damp TT and that's it.

I get what your saying once I give them good cleaning with APC and dress them with hyper dressing for more apearance all I would really need to do to keep them clean is just wipe them down with a towel every wash.

Thinking if I get hyper dressing I might dress them up every month just to keep them looking clean and keeping the plastics and rubber looking black.

The plan of attack you outlined will work great. Besides appearance wise will door jambs being cleaned look good, there is also a practical side to it also. I learned the hard way. In High school we had a big fancy dance. Door jambs were dirty, Girlfriends dress got dirty from door jambs. Me in trouble. Date was all dowm hill from there. However it never happened again.lol

                    Re: Door Jams

I always have a pump dispenser at hand filled with NXT Car Wash solution.
Before washing i open the doors and hecklid and spray the jambs with the solution. Sometimes I also work it real slightly with a soft painters brush.
After washing and rinsing the exterior of the car almost all of the suds in the jambs are also gone and I can wipe everything clean and dry with a microfiber.
