  • Help out this newbie, clear coat issue

My mom owns a 94 accord and on her trunk is some heavy damage...I have no idea how this happened,My guess is that it happened gradually.

What can I do for her car?

wow....That is a classic case of clear coat failure or even maybe adhesion issues with the clear...Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to this at all besides paint it...

The only other option, long shot but...If it is only happening on the trunk... The question is when was the trunk repainted, and if it was not too long ago, you may go back to the shop and talk with them. if you do not know those answers, a repaint is necessary

And by that you mean they don't care until you wash it, and then when you do its not clean enough? Is that what your referring to?

Sort of looks like the spot where that little alien pops out of the guys chest. Without the blood, of course. Either way.....ick.

This has probably been asked and answered before. Obviously once the clear coat has failed, it can't be fixed, but can you continue to wash clean and wax to keep it looking better if a paint job is out of the question? Wouldn't it keep what clear coat hasn't failed from getting worse and wouldn't the areas where it has failed simply now be a single stage paint?
