  • Need help bad with my Black Car, pictures inside!!!

I recently purchased a brand new 2007 Honda Accord, Nighthawk Black. I have really gotten into auto detailing this past month. Unfortunately for me and my car, I didn't get the knowledge from visiting forums like this until I already had the car for a month or two. In that time, I put in a good amount of swirls and scratches from car washes, using joy soap to wash my car, and using old cotton towels for drying, etc, You get the picture!

I recently detailed my car using some non-meguiars products, and thought I had pretty good results. However, I think the pictures that I will be showing below will prove otherwise.

    I have two questions:

    1) I recently purchased a Porter Cable 7424. I also recently took a rock to the hood of my car! My first couple of pics below will show this. I was curious what Meguiars products you would recommend in conjuntion with the PC to try and repair these scratches, and how much I can realistically expect to improve them.

    2) I have a general haziness all over my car when I take it out into the direct sunlight. The car looks buttery smooth after a wash and an application of QD, but when I get it outside in the sunlight, HAZINESS abound! This is the big thing I need to figure out how to get rid of. Scratches will unfortunately happen, but this haziness on the paint needs to go away now! How would everyone recommend that I get rid of this haziness???

Here are the pics showing the scratch on the hood from the rock. The first pic also shows the haziness I am talking about to the far right of the picture:

The rest of these pics show some swirls and the haziness I was referring to:

For question 1. use some M80 Speed Glaze

For question 2. apply a quality wax and then maintian your car's finsih with repeated applications of wax or even a spray-on wax and it will keep your car's finish looking clear and shiny.

Read this, start where the M80 step kicks in...

Using the G-100 to remove swirls with the Professional Line

The G100 is the same thing as your Porter Cabe or PC

      Mike,

Thanks so much for the reply.

Quick question. Is there any paint prep work that I need to do before I apply the M80 glaze? I currently have a polish/sealant along with a layer of Carnauba wax on the paint that was done about 2-3 weeks ago.

Can I just startup with the M80 after a good car wash and claying, or do I need to prep the paint any more than that?

      Thanks again!

You can apply #80 right after wash, you may want to clay too.

After washing and claying you can go right to the M80 step, it will remove anything on the surface.

You might want to get some blue painters tape and tape off any trim.

That is an Accord sir, no disrespect to Civic owners out there

This may be a dumb question, but as my father always said, there is no such thing as stupid questions, only stupid people.....

Where exactly does one find and purchase the professional line of Meguiars products such as M80 or M83?

Give that a read, method 3 usually works pretty good if you have at least a couple of body shops and dealerships in your home town.

Go to Oreilly auto parts, if they don't have it in stock they can get it. I started going to this local paint and body supply shop, they carry the whole pro line and can get me anything I need in 24 hours. Of course you can always order it at meguiars.com

#80 on a yellow 8006 pad will probably work great on that accord. My civic is the same color and just a tip, #7 topped with 2 coats of NXT is a great combo and makes the blue flake pop. One coat will make it streaky.
