  • White haze on Black Plastic.

I am about to wax a new car for the first time. It has a lot of black plastic and rubber trim around all the painted parts.

Question: Does Meguiar's sell a wax product that will not produce a mark should I spill / splash a bit of material on the black plastic parts? In the event I use a wax that causes a white mark on the black plastic / rubber parts, any hot tips on removing it?

I know about the use of masking tape, but while I am interested in a good result, I am not interested to the point of masking all these parts with tape.

    Thanks in advance.

It all depends on what end results you really want...all I can tell you is that the time you spend taping off a car will not be as much as you will spend cleaning off the wax from the plastic parts of the vehicle...The results are very nice....

As far as a product, I've read peanut butter does a good job removing old wax from plastic...if you do a search on "peanut butter", you'll find discussions about it in this forum...

with tkddad, The time to tape is minimal compared with the time to remove the wax off the moldings. I have heard from a few people about the peanut butter. They report great results, however I have never tried it.

Get some Meguiar's Gold Class Trim Detailer. I prefer the gel type not the spray one. It takes off most of the wax but if you have alot of wax on there like I did once, it wont take off every bit of it. A second application may be needed.

if you got wax on the trim, M39 and or M40 work really well. some spray, little passion and you're good.
