  • How to properly use #7 show car glaze...

Just trying to get some opinions on how to properly apply #7. I've tried it several times on different black cars, trying to improve the look a little more, and everytime it has put swirls into the paint. Now before anyone jumps me, I know #7 has no abrasives, and it's the tool that I'm using.

I've tried hand held yellow Meguiar's foam applicator pads, remove with clean microfiber.....leaves swirls
Tan PC pad on the pc, speed 3, remove with clean microfiber.......leaves swirls

So how do you apply/remove #7 and not get any swirls?

We tend to apply this product by hand, apply a thin coat and wipe off.

Not sure why you would have problems by machine?

Did you try doing a test spot? Try doing a test spot by hand.

Is it possible that the swirls are already there and have not been removed and are therefore being emphasized by #7? Just a thought.

I have used #7 on many black cars with excellent results. Its much easier by hand though.

My process has been to remove all improfections(83,Solo, etc...), then move to 80 by PC for an almost perfect finish. This is the point where I've tried #7 by hand and machine. I know you really don't need to use #7 after #80, but I just wanted to try this for myself to see if there would be any noticable difference to MY eye. This is where I found the swirls. Very light swirls, but still taking a step backwards from the point I was at after the #80.

          Hi:

Do a test spot with your normal procedure.

After using the #80 wipe the area with rubbing alcohol and inspect.

If it looks good, apply the #7 and inspect again.

Should tell you were the swirls are coming from.

You aren't by any chance letting #7 dry and then fighting to get it off, are you? As a pure polish, #7 should be rubbed onto/into the paint and wiped off before it dries. I've used it on my scratch sensitive Miata without any issues.

No, I do not let it dry. I take it off as soon as I finish applying it to the paint.
