The guy owns an S7. He's got enough money that he can use whatever product he wants, however he wants. If it scratches, it was the product's fault, and he'll pay someone to fix it.

Hmmmm, could it be that the friend of the original poster here heard that "2-7 coats" somewhere and misunderstood it as "27 coats"? I wouldn't be surprised as this sort of thing happens all the time.

I was just going to say that...I remember when the original poster was on here, he didn't have very good grammer, (not that I'm any better) but he could have easily misheard or mistyped.

The S7 does hold a different paint scheme but does not have 27 coats of clear. I know that when you order the special paint colors that Saleen offers - like the rainbow paint or Lizstik red they have anywhere from 2-7 coats of clear on them.

I like Eagle One Tire Dressing Applicators. I use them to apply Meguiar's Endurance. I have never tried an Eagle One tire dressing and likely never will. If I ever find the Meguiar's Tire Applicators for sale in the common brick-and-mortar stores, I will buy them. *HINT* *HINT*

I'll admit....EO Wipe n Shine was the one non Meguiars product I used regularly. I really preferred its ease of use and slickness over QD mist and wipe.
I said USED because now that UQD is out I'm all Meguiars again. That stuff is unbeatable in my opinion.

I agree with that 100%. I NEVER give out my thoughts on something as Ive found that if something goes wrong, they will say YOU told them it would work/be the best. I only tell people what I do or use, not what I think is the best.



Usually if something is working out for people they wont continue to buy it. If its the best selling then that must mean people keep going back to it. So in short, its highly likely thats its a great product.

I personally use a bunch of different QD's. I have Meguairs, Eagle One, Mothers, and ONR on hand right now. They all are great products and I have no complaints about any of them what so ever.

I keep Mothers in my Jeep so if it freezes it wont really matter.

Same here! I personally love all of them, though use ONR for claying because it is SO cheap! Also use it for when I buff, while I use Meguiar's and Eagle One interchangably depending on if I use NXT or NanoWax. Mother's is also a great detailer, and have no complaints about it either.

However, after my newfound love for NXT and maintaining it with UQD, it has become my #1 choice for my car!

Hello - I am a Saleen owner (wish it was an S7). The Saleen factory in both Irvine Ca and Troy Mich both have a state of the are paint systems. Many other top end cars have used Saleen to paint their vehichle such as the Viper. The S7 does hold a different paint scheme but does not have 27 coats of clear. I know that when you order the special paint colors that Saleen offers - like the rainbow paint or Lizstik red they have anywhere from 2-7 coats of clear on them. The paint is alot like the corvette paint - very hard and it scratches or leaves swirls just by looking at it.

It's actually not a good idea to try to change people, it's okay to discuss other options and new ideas but it's possible your friend has found the product he likes to use the most and if he's perfectly happy with it then having someone trying to change him might just annoy him versus get him to change.

Your friend does not know a thing about paint unfortunately. 27 layers would be counterproductive. You should tell your friend to check out MOL.

Just because it is the Most Selling, does that mean it is the BEST? I have used both the quik detailier and EO QD and have to say I like the EO. Better smell, less smears. Yes, I use the them the same way. Sprayed each half with the same number of sprays, used 2 towels of the same lot and the look and the feel of EO was far more better.

Take that as you will. I am going to mix some ONR with some water and use that over the next few times and see how it compares to EO.

What do you mean "each half" you should only be spraying QD on a 12" by 12" inch area at the most.

Yea!!!!! Theres no way there can be 27!! cuz I did not paint the car I did that once on a bumper!! if there was just 27 layers of clear + the paint GEEEES that paint woud just about crack!!
I've only have 4 coats of clear on mine! Basecoat clearcoat all ppg paint

Like I've said before, if Meguiar's wasn't around, EO is probably what I would be using. It is some pretty good stuff IMO for the price.

If he likes it, then so be it. He does not want to leave EO, just like none of us want to leave Meguiar's. No matter how many layers of clear he has (he does not have 27 regardless), at least tell him to go get some of the EO wax to help protect it.
