  • Questions about ColorX, NXT, and YellowWax#26

    1. Which is easier to take off after applying a thin coat,
    ColorX or YellowWax Liquid#26 ?

    2. Which is easier to take off, YellowWax Liquid#26 or NXT Liquid ?

I have a Black car, and I want shine and Protection, my detailing procedure goes as follow, (please free to chime in anything if possible)....am applying all by hand.

    1.) ColorX,
    2.) #7 Glaze,
    3.) YellowWax or NXT Liquid.

on the third step, which one will give me that "POP"?
someone on the forum may of said that NXT may leave streaks?
that is why I'm going to try out YellowWax#26......

    thanks all....

I notice you are using color x as a paint cleaner for your first step, i dont think that it is a good idea because color x has some wax in it which will prevent the penetration of polish (i think, not 100% sure) i use deep crystal #1 to prep my paint. Then i clay, polish, and wax. I use nxt liquid and i think it wipes off pretty easy, no streaks, although i havent tried the other waxes so i cant tell you how it compares to them. nxt is the most popular meguiars wax(according to polls), its good stuff.

      1. If you apply thin coats, everything should work quite well.

      2. I dont think Nxt liquid likes dampness quite as much, it can get a little streaky if removing when it is damp outside.

I would tend to agree that if you are going ot use ColorX, you may as well go straight to a wax.

      1. Wash
      2. Clay as needed
      3. ColorX
      4. Wax

Or, go with a dedicated paint cleaner, polish, and wax.

      1. Wash
      2. Clay as needed
      3. Deep Crystal #1
      4. #7
      5. Wax
      6. Wax
