Simple question here, which Meguiar's product has the best filling ability?

Honestly don't know... never tested for that ability, usually use Meguiar's products to remove defects then apply some wax to seal the finished results.

NXT is very good at eliminating fine swirls and scratches, as is M16 as it is a true hard wax, it is however discontinued here in the U.S.

For what it's worth... any wax on the market that works, that is any paint protection product that leaves behind a protective layer on the surface is by definition filling.

#7 used to be called "Sealer and Reseal Glaze" because it could fill-in hairline scratches and with subsequent applications fill them in again. (Remember it's not a protection product, i.e. a wax so it was never meant to be a product that would last, (protection), but instead a product that would make paint look good, (fill in hairline swirls and scratches).

    Does that help?

Sure does. Basically what Im looking to do is clean my car few months after a detail. In that time some hairline scratches would appear because they are unavoidable unless you never touch your car ever. Instead if taking paint off, I wanted to fill them in and then do a full detail using #80/#83 a year or so later. Either way this fall the car is going into storage as Ill be off to college. If you say #7 will work then I believe you.

      Thanks Mike

NXT wax also does a good job hiding small imperfections. I believe it has some minor fillers in it.

The NXT does a great job of hiding small imperfections. Even the NXT Spray Booster Wax does this. My wifes Subaru has a coat of #26 on it but this last weekend I washed it and used the NXT Spray Booster Wax after drying the car. I've found that her car has fairly soft paint over the last year and shows very fine marring after a few washes. I used two coats of the Booster Wax and I was amazed at the results! Does a great job of hiding very fine scratches.

Thanks a lot guys. Once a month application of NXT it is Bi-weekly application of xpress-wax in between

I'm glad you posted this because I have been wondering the same thing. I just drive an old beater for business and plan to sell it soon, so needed something that would act as a filler.

What would you guys say is the most effective product when it comes to being a filler (I don't care if I have to wax ontop of it).

If you have an old beater that has heavy to medium swirls then I dont think it will fill that well. Fillers are only good for lighter swirls.

i know this thread has more to do with lack of time than removing defects.

but why would you want to just fill them.

why not spend the extra time and remove them?

Its not lack of time. In fact I have too much time. I plan on keeping my car for more than my life. If I remove defects every month, pretty soon Ill have no paint left. Either way with my wash techniques, Ill have very minimal swirls. Im not gonna go and remove paint for a couple of tiny swirls but rather let them build up a little bit then remove them all.

hey i'm all for keeping the car for a long time.

but you SHOULD not have to use M80 every time or every month.

In most cases, if you find yourself needing to use a cleaner/polish because you have a lot of swirls and scratches then instead of tackling the symptom it might be a good idea to look at the root cause of the problem and address that instead.

Well thats the thing, I dont have lots of swirls. Only a couple in a few spots which is why I need a filler. My wash technique is just fine
