  • Big Wheels- Trucks

A guy down the street has been working on a large truck for a couple of weeks in his driveway. He appears to be restoring it rather than repairing it, but it's hard to say just from driving by. The engine appears to be clean, but nothing is shiny etc.
So I was wondering, does anyone detail big trucks?
If so how much do they charge?
And is there anything substantially different about detailing a big truck other than they are much bigger than cars?

    Re: Big Wheels- Trucks

Do you mean a big pick-up truck or a Semi or one of the newer commercial trucks, kind of in-between an normal pick-up truck and a semi truck?

Either, or paint is paint, (to some degree), interior is interior and whees and tires are wheels and tires, the point being as long as you
    1. Evaluate the condition of the surface being treated
    2. Choose the right product
    3. Use good technique

The rest of the equation will be over your time and what you charge.

This is a semi. I may just volunteer on this one for practice. And they may not accept. I'll just have to see. Thanks.

Hey lucky161... did you ever get a chance to detail that semi? I am curious becuse my father-in-law does some part time work for peterbuilt, and they are needing a detailer (or truck washer i'm not sure which). I Don't know much about big trucks..so wasn't sure what kinda job this would be.

I drive a truck by night , detail by day, and sometimes night. I have detailed a few trucks for the company I work for. In general the paint is very hard as it is Imron paint. Think I spelled that right? Worst part is all the bugs in the summer time. I usually charge about 2 to 3 times what a dirty pickup would cost. You should jump in and have some fun.
