  • a few questions..

I have got a lot of questions..

-If i use a hi-tech applicator pad with all metal polysh and it gets heavy oxidized and black, should I ever use it for anything else? Or should i mark my applicators so that i have one for each job?

-I see people use dishwash soaps for cleaning, while I usually soak in washing powder (for clothes), rinse and wash on low temp in machine. Is the dishwash solution better? (i dont know what "Dawn" or "Joy" is really..

-If my MF gets really dirty, and it still got some stains after i have washed, are they safe to use? The same question I have for the Chamois.

-Will the (new)Quik Wheel detailer remove the #21 on my wheels?

-How often does people wash their wash mitts? I have got a Cobra MF/Cotton Chenille mitt. Cant get any mitts from shops around here..

-Are the Cobra MF Mango Breeze safe to use on my paint? They are not as plush as the Supreme shine towels from M..

-Is the Gold Class spray detailer good for Claying?
Is it good on top of the #21 or mostly just for GC wax?

Hope to solve some mysteries... Thanks for your help.

    One for each job.

Washing powder should be fine. I would prefer a liquid, though.

-If my MF gets really dirty, and it still got some stains after i have washed, are they safe to use? The same question I have for the Chamois.
Still safe to use. It is not uncommon to have stains that just won't come out. It will not affect the performance of either.

-Will the (new)Quik Wheel detailer remove the #21 on my wheels?
No, it won't remove #21. You're safe there.

-How often does people wash their wash mitts? I have got a Cobra MF/Cotton Chenille mitt. Cant get any mitts from shops around here..
After every use. Dirt and grime will end up in your wash mitt. Be safe and wash it.

Any of the detailer sprays are good for claying. It will be good on top of #21.

    Hopefully that helps.

Gold Class spray detailer? Not sure which one you mean, wouldnt want you to confuse products.

And the only reason to go with dishwashing liquid for pads and such is that in theory it will be better at removing grease/grime/oil, and a lot of car products are oil based.

            This one http://www.autogeek.net/megoclspde.html

Ok, so do you just soak and massage the pads and MF in dishwasher fluid, then hang to dry?

That detailer spray is fine. As far as the pads, rinse out the pads in fresh water, use liquid dishwashing soap and massage into pads, rinse with fresh water. You'll be better off if you repeat that a couple of times. Just use your better judgement in cleaning the pads and mitt. If it doesn't look or feel clean, keep going. Squeeze out as much water as you can, but don't twist or wring them, then hang to dry. Avoid the dryer.

You can wash them in the washing machine with other microfibers/water magnets/Supreme Shines and so on, I use Woolite(not sure if thats available to you) but you can use just about any laundry detergent, stay away from fabric softener. I like to let them dry in the dryer just till they are damp then remove and let air dry.

                    Re: a few questions..

I wash my MF towels including the drying towels with liquid laundry detergent(they are all about the same). I wash my mitts(Megs Ultra Plush) with my detailing workout pants and some T shirts about once per month, but I am not sure they need it (the pants need it ), because they look very clean when I am finished washing

                      Re: a few questions..

I would be leery of using a powder based detergent to clean any pads or detailing towels. There is always a possibility that some of the powder may not dissolve, and you know what that means for your paint.

I tried the Quik Wheel Detailer, and there is a distinct loss of slickness when used on a wheel with #21 applied as an LSP. IMHO the Wheel Detailer will remove at least some of the #21. For wheels treated with #21, I don't see any reason why a paint detailer such as NXT Speed Detailer or Last Touch wouldn't work just as well. Meguiars did say that the Quick Wheel Detailer is stronger than detailers formulated for paint.
