  • touch up painting...

Hey all. I've got some nasty rock chips in my hood that I need to touch up. I've been reading the Autopia guide to detailing, and there's a chapter discussing touching up the paint. Has anyone out there read this and done the steps involved? I'm wondering what you all do to touch up the paint on you cars when u get deep scratches and rock chips..

    thanks,
    Nick

    Nick,

The Autopia guide is about the best there is. I've used it as it written. It is very, very thorough and it takes a while to get good at it. Patience is the key. If you rush any part of it, you are bound to screw up.

That said, touch ups work much better on solid colors that on metallics. I have managed to do touch ups well enough on my black vehiciles that even I have trouble finding them when I am finished. I have not had the same luck on metallics.

I went to autopia.com but I could not find the how-to article to touch-up paint.

Can you please send me the link ?
