Newb, help with C200 Mercedes and 2006 Lancer

Well to begin the cars I have to work on are my dads 1996 C200 Mercedes which is dark blue and my sisters 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Black.

Now I purchased the Paintcleaner, Polish and Wax which are all part of 3 step process thing but problem is they are giving them a nice shine but now I need to go further.

They both have swirl marks, especially my dads mercedes and also those light scracthes you get which aren't swirls but like a million light scratches all in one direction when sun hits it.

So wondering I don't have much cash to spend and I live in Australia so hard to find professional products but the other regular products are easy to find.

So what thinking is wash, dry, scratchX, paint cleaner (notshore if needed if using scratchx and then polish and wax.

I am purchasing Supreme Shine Microfibre Cloth, ScratchX, and Nxt Generation Car Wash

I have Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Deep Crystal Polish, Deep Crystal Wax and Hand Applicator Pads.

So now wondering if you guys can give me any suggestions with what process with stuff I have and stuff getting and whats best way to get best finish.

kastanaras! if your doing all the work by hand then use the scratchX working in with foam applicator a section about 16''x16'' or so using about 10 to 15 lbs pressure with back and forth motion and after a few times get the product thats at the top of your throw and bring back down and keep working it in until it becomes some what clear,wipe off with a microfiber towel and check,it might take a couple of applications to remove the swirls ,but you can do a great job that will produce a great shine without the swirls. and do get the dvd HOW TO USE THE PC it will show you how to do things the right way and give you great results. Well I am tight on money and these aren't my cars so not really worth me to bu a buffer.

Just wondering will ScratchX only cover one car cause if I use few applications on each bit by bit I can imagine won't have much of scratchX left and I am really hoping to find Speed Glaze somewhere here in Australia.

But for now Scratch X, Polish and Wax are only option for now by hand.

With the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner I have, will I really need it if using scratchx. Also would the cleaner be best used just like scratchx as working one area back and forth with a bit of pressure and few applications or does it just get applied just like polish with one coat on and then taken off.

Also with the applicator pad is it just me or does it really grip and have this weird feeling when using this applicator pad for first time on the paint.

The Deep Crystal paint cleaner has a really mild abrassive, but most of the work is done by the chemicals inside it. It is not a substitution for ScratchX, though. ScratchX has an abrassive in it which is more agressive and allows it to remove scratchs.

I've used ScratchX on whole cars. I have about half a tube left after doing three cars and a bunch of misc. spots.

So should I use the Paint Cleaner after ScratchX or will it not really help the final look at all and also wondering I did a few polishs and waxes on my dads car before and used cheap **** polishing cloth to take it off, just wondering if taking it off with a meguires microfibre polishing cloth will make a huge difference in both the final look and easyness.

I found with the polishing cloth I was using left marks on the paint like the ones you get where you can see the darker bits of paint where the polish was applyed and only way to get it off with cheap polish cloth was to keep rubbing it till it finally just blended into the paint.

Would I get same result with meguiars microfibre polishing cloth or would that take it off first time and only require abit of work to get the product to blend into the paint.

If you use ScratchX on the whole car, then it would not be necessary to use a paint cleaner. After all, ScratchX is basically a paint cleaner.

I use microfiber cloths to remove products. They pick up way more than towels and they prevent scratching.

So what would work better with hand Speed Glaze or ScratchX.

Problem is there is one big supplier of Meguiars which might have speed glaze where I live but it's on otherside of city like 1-2hr drive so wondering if it's worth it to get Speed Glaze or just get ScratchX locally.
