  • The Polishing step

Got a question about steps 3 and 4 below (re brand new car). Plan to do the following:

    1) wash n' dry (sheepskin mitt, two bucket, dry with MF towels)
    2) clay with QD lube (and wash n' dry again)
    3) cleaner wax ( all in one clean/polish/wax ; remove with MF)
    4) polish - SKIP
    5) NXT Wax x 2 (buff with MF)

    Question:
Does the above adequately address the 'polish' step? - that is , if I use CleanerWax, is the application of a pure polish product simply unneccessary? If a polish step is indeed suggested, what prodcuts should I instead use for steps 3 and 4?

First time at all of this.

Car colour is same as in these pics ( not my car)

    Re: The Polishing step

i can't remember if you said this was machine buff or no?

is the car swirled at all? sorry didn't see brand new car. you'll have to wait to see its condition

its all perference. following meguiars 5 step process it calls for a pure polish. do you have to do that. no you don't have to do anything you don't want to or have the time to do.

using a cleaner wax and then going nxt x 2 is okay.

doing a seperate step with a pure polish will only enhance the shine and overall look of the car.

    if its not swirled.

    Wash
    Clay
    DC1
    #7
    NXT x 2

    If it is swirled

    Wash
    Clay
    M80
    #7 -if you want
    Nxt 2 x
    M21 - if you want

there are quite a few options you can choose.

well since we can't get M66 in Canada you can go.

        wash
        clay
        #6 or Colour-X
        nxt x 2

        but i'd do this.

        wash
        clay
        scratch-x
        #7
        NXT

it will take longer but at least this way you'l have addressed any problems from the dealer or from when the car left factory till you took ownership.

        wash
        clay
        #6 - just a cleaner wax
        #7
        NXT x 2

that for that added touch. 6 cleans and polishes where 7 is a pure polish.

PERSONAL PERFERENCE and time are the big thing.

you gotta evaluate your paint's condition first though. because who knows may need M83 in the end. won't know till you take the car.
