  • I have a dream to make my red POP !

Spring is just days away and I'm planning to detail my GTI next weekend so that I can take my VW and rub shoulders at the Good-Guys 25th All American Get Together Mar. 24 - Mar. 25, 2007 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Yah I know it's Rod & Custom association, but if you have that car crazy gene so what! So I need my ride to look its very best so here is my plan and let me know if I am leaving anything out:

    1. Wash & Dry
    2. Clay, and if needed clay again
    3. #80 to get out all of the swirl and fine scratches
    4. #7 Show Car Glaze
    5. NXT – 2 Coats
    6. #26 as my top coat

My rims will also get clayed, and get a coat NXT, and the tires will get pampered as well.

I know that # 80, NXT and #26 can be applied with me PC 7424 but are there and considerations when applying #7 by machine?

Also can you suggest anything that I may have missed?

My ride as of last weekend, and there will be new pictures after I'm done

    Pretty good combo IMO.

I'd just add a little stuff: some suggestions and a little observation.

    A) if you're claying your wheels, make sure that clay won't ever touch your paint again or you might scratch it.

    B) if you clay your car thoroughly, there won't be any need to redo that process.

    C) I'd put #82 instead of #7. and a little tip: If you can get Automagic BC2 for this step, you'll be pretty pleased. I've used it a few times but it leaves a pretty nice shine

    D) after the two coats of NXT, I'd put #7. that is supposed to give even a better shine.

    E) Prep you car with final inspection at the day of the event and you're all set.

......And try to leave your car away from sprinklers and birds

    Hope This Helps

        Hey,

With that color red, I would replace the NXT with just 2 coats of #26. So right after your application of #7, apply two coats of #26. Meg's #26 will deepen the red, and give it a richness and tremendous depth. Right before the show, wash the car and apply Meg's Last Touch. That will make that red just 'pop'!

I have to agree, thier is just something about red and #26. To my eyes, #26 gives red an incredable rich glow.

Post wash and dry pictures from today but the detail will be next weekend. You will see that I don't make my living by taking pictures, I'm a software engineer. My ride parked outside 24/7/365 and is how I get to work everyday.

I'll look into #26 but NXT sure give a nice shine!

Now for the swirl that I would like to get rid of or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?

I don't think your making a mountain out of a mole hill, If your unhappy with the swirl in the paint then it has to come out. Its your decision. What makes you happy, is what you have to do. Imho Your car looks pretty darn good now.

                isn't this all a myth.

26 will give any car colour that shine. its only that you can notice it better.

If that's the worst swirl mark you have get over it move on. I've seen worse plus your car color hides scratches well, keep up the fine work ..

Anything worth doing is worth over doing! My management keeps trying to tell me otherwise, but good enough is not good enough for me.

There are two other spots that are a little worse so what your saying clay, Paint Cleaner, #7, and NXT or #26. Am I missing your point?

I can always use #80 on the wife wagon because it does need it, and I was going to start there anyway to score some points.
