  • Cleaner Wax Question

    Hello all,

I have a question about the application method for Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax. If I use the G-100, do I apply it like a wax or like a cleaner? W-9006 or W-8006?

I am assuming like a wax, speed 3, W-9006 etc...just want to make sure though...

    Thanks for any replies!!

    Re: Cleaner Wax Question

I have never actually used this product, but I do use a lot of M66 and it is my understanding that you want to apply it the same way as a cleaner or polish (Speed 5 on the DA using an 8006 pad, slowly working it in and overlapping 50%) Once you've done this, don't wipe it off, but instead let it cure like you would a wax. (30-45 mins) and then wipe off with a MF towel. This is what I do with it and it provides excellent results.
    Good Luck.

      Re: Cleaner Wax Question

So are you saying it has diminishing abrasives? If so, then ive been using that wax in the wrong way. I also just put it on like a wax.

I usually use cleaner wax on my door jambs. I just did the other day actually. They never see the elements, so they do not need any special attention. They usually come out looking and feeling great.

I am going to have to say that its more like a wax than a cleaner....you never no, but I am going to wait for some more replies. I have used it before and didn't notice a difference so I am assuming I just applied it wrong.

        Thanks for the replies!!

I use this procedure with all waxes that have cleaners in them including NXT. However, I usually set my pc at 4. Not only do I overlap, I move my pc at right angles to previous "runs".

What type of results do you achieve by using this process. I use this method when doing customers cars that just want a basic wash n wax and it almost produces results to good (it makes them feel they don't need anything more)

you can use either the w8006 or w9006 pad, but to add a little bite since it is a cleaner wax, you could use the w8006 pad on the 3 - 5 setting and work it in to a nice thin even coat, and then remove it after it has fully dried. remember... do the swipe test to indicate whether or not it is ready to remove.
