  • Claying and Waxing - Do's an Dont's

Beyond the paint, is it okay to clay, and even wax, windshields, chrome, wheels and headlights?...or are there some cautions there??

You can clay a windshield, headlights, clear coated wheels and as for chrome or other types of wheels I am not sure someone else will have to chime in on that one. You can also apply a wax to a windshield, headlights, clear coated wheels.... as for a windshield there are probably better products out there to apply and allow rain to sheet off the window, just my .02 cents.

I wax my windows but never the windshield. I tried it once, and it made my wipers chatter and were generally useless when I needed them. Tried Rain-X and that created a haze in oncoming lights. Best for me is to keep it clean, and apply nothing it.

You can clay anything you want.

With headlights, just always be gentle with clay, wax, etc. That plastic always seems easy to swirl.

I have clayed just about everything on the exterior of the car. As for windshields I have clayed them without any problems. As for waxing windshields I would not try this. There are specific products for windshields. In my opinion, I always try to use a specific product for a specific application.

I just use an older clay for the glass and rims. I also wax my windshield and EXTERIOR glass with a paste wax by hand wax on by terry cloth and wax off with a microfiber cloth. Works great I barely use wipers and the bugs don't go SPLAT as much because they slide across the glass. Wonderful because I live in a farming town and my windshield ain't a bug magnet like most peoples cars around here.

RIms - use NXT. works awesome.

Windshield - WAX called RAIN-X. works awesome as well.
