    Endurance vs. Hot shine gel

    Hi Folks,

    I have used Endurance gel for quite some time now. I have liked it. I generally don't like the "wet look" so I don't use the high gloss version. However, recently, I've decided to try something new and see if I've changed my mind aobut the wet look on my tires. (Also the my bottle of Endurance mysteriously congealed and I can't use the rest of it so it was a good time to try something new.)

    I went to try the high gloss version but couldn't find it at Auto Zone... so I got the new Hot shine high gloss gel. (I like gels as opposed to sprays) It went on great and did indeed have a more shiny and wet look to it. However, after a couple of days of driving around I noticed lots of junk sticking to the side of my tires... little sand particles and some smaller crushed rock-looking things. They kinda look nasty.

    Has anyone using the new Hot Shine gel noticed that stuff more easily will stick to your tires? I didn't buff it off afterwards because I wanted to try the wet look. Perhaps I should have buffed?

    I never noticed junk sticking to my tires with the Endurance, but I did kinda like the wet look. Does the Endurance High Gloss have the sticking problem like I seem to be experiencing with the Hot Shine Gel?

    i haven't had a problem with Endurance High Gloss Gel. haven't noticed anything sticking to the wheels/rims.

      I use the Hot Shine Gel and have had no issues with anything sticking to my tires. I was going to post pictures but their too big. Will try to resize them later. Now if I can only find where EZ Thumbnails is.

      I am very happy with the Hot Shine Gel. Much to my surprise, it shines even more than the Insane Shine.

      How long did you let the Hot Shine sit before driving? And what tires do you have? These will both have an effect on how a tire shine works.

      The first time I tried Endurance was on Goodyear Eagle GSC tires on my TA. It was outstanding! Great shine and good durability with very little sling! But then............I got my '01 WS6, which had Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Endurance was terrible on them. I had sling all along my fenders, it attracted a ton of dirt, and didn't last that long. The shine lasted about 1 day! I wouldn't expect to see much difference from different tires.

        I have the stock Pirelli's that came on my Mustang... I think they say zero nero on them or something like that. I let the gel sit a bit over 12 hours. Did it after work one afternoon and didn't drive again until the next morning. I"m not having a sling problem... just that junk is sticking to my tires. I'll give it a few more tries before I try something else or go back to Endurance. I think I like the shiny look now!

          perhaps you but too much on?? I have had the same problem with Endurance and noticed that I put too much on...

            I definitely prefer the shiny look. I am really surprised that more muscle and sports car owners don't prefer the wet look. IMHO the wet look is more suitable for these cars than satin, or matte look! The matte look is more for a Lexus or Infinity.

              Oh man, I just remembered! I was outside QD-ing my car when I decided last minute to try the new gel. I had not intended to do this originally. So the tires were not actually washed first!!!! YIKES! I just applied it over my last Endurance application and whatever dirt had accumulated since then.

              Hmmmmm.... perhaps this is my own fault for getting excited about trying it and appying without first washing! Dang... I feel so stupid. LOL

                I've used High Gloss forever. If you put too much on or you don't allow it to soak in, then everything will stick to the tires.

                The solution is to wipe the tires off well with a rag. It works to get rid of the buildupm, but it will lessen the gloss.

                I like to apply the High Gloss, wait an hour, and then wipe down the tires. I know that it lessens the gloss, but nothing sticks to them.

                I was thinking of putting a set of Nero's on my Sable. How do you like them? Any experience in the snow?

                  I love the Pirelli's!!!! Some new Mustangs come with Goodyear (I think). I'm soooo glad mine was with the Pirelli. I live in Miami... so my tires are not gonna see snow. But I love the way they look and hug the road. I think they're pretty expensive.... but if/when they wear out (or heaven forbid get punctured) I will buy them again.

                  Check out the Pirelli site for tires that may be good in the snow.

                    yes i love my Pirelli's too. sweet tires.

                    anyways, wipe off any excess residue.

                    apply Endurance, then let it sit for till you do all four tires, then go back to the first one and wipe off excess residue. then move on to the second etc...repeat twice and you should be good. except let 5-10 minutes pass between wipes.

                        The P-zeros have received very good reviews. IIRC the P Zero Nero are all season high performance tires, so they should be OK in a 3-4 inches of snow.

                        I have BFG KDWS on my GTO. They are useable in 4-6 inches of snow, plus the GTO is heavier than my TA was so that helps a lot. However, when it snows that much I usually just stay home and either take a vacation day or work at home. The TA was a real handful in the snow with the Goodyear F1s, even just an inch or two. I replaced them with Dunlop Sport SP5000s and they were much better.

                        Also back on topic, the KDWS tires are more tolerant of different tire dressings. They sling much less than the Goodyears did!

                          Ooh. Sounds scary..
                          I drove my previous Audi S4 on 235/35/19 F1 GSD3 tires, on snow..
                          We all use studded winter tires from oct/nov to april-march.
                          Looks like spring might arrive a little earlier this year!

                            RamAirV1, you do know that the Goodyear F1's (GS-D3) are pure summer tires.

                            We were thinking of putting those F1's on our Porsche, but they have been known to plaster the fenders with rock pecks. Big no no. We chose the S03's and they've been great

                            Anyways, my question turned this thread into a tire discussion instead of a dressing discussion. Woops...
