  • need help on car cleaning (PICS)

Today was the first day that I really kinda cleaned my car up. I just washed it then used meguiars colorX then that was it for now. I was going to put some nxt tech wax on it but ran out of time.

this is the picture the seller had in march

this is before I washed it today

    after wash and colorX

not really noticable in the pictures but there are swirll marks on the car still. Is there anything that I could use that is easy to use and can get at like autozone? That colorX was a tuff one.

I highly doubt they have any of the professional line of products, but if they do try to find Meg's #9. If you can't find that you may want to use step 1 and 2 of the Deep Crystal system followed by your NXT.

#9 will only hide, not remove swirls.. If you can order some #83 and get rid of em'

        Hey,

Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover does indeed have the ability to remove light swirls.

If the #9 does not remove the defects, you will need to move on to something more aggressive like #83 DACP.

You should be able to find #9. I have seen it at Pep Boys & O'Riley also. I have used it for light scratches and it does take them out...not just cover them up. It has mild abrasives in it. I would try that before I would go to something harsher. Always start with the least abrasive first.

Sorry about short post before. Car looks great. Tons of depth and detail.

As for #9 I tested the product on some hand swirl marks from rubbing compound. After 2 passes and some rubbing alcohol the swirls were back. I must admit the swirls were improved but not removed. After 2 passes of #83 DACP swirls gone!! Did the alcohol test and swirls still gone.

Both products were applied with PC. For #9 I used the 9006 pad. For #83 DACP I used the 8006 pad. Speed at 5 for both.

The buffing swirls were the owners attempt at scratch removal. With the PC and #83 I removed the hazy swirls and got into the paint to help remove some of the scratch too. I didn't take pics though.

Good luck and very nice work. The NXT as a topper will give a really nice "pop" to finish off your hard work.

here are some of the scratches on top of the car. I could not get any good pics of them.

Wish I could buy some of that #83 around here. Might just have to order it. Can that be put on with hand?

i think if you are gonna apply it on hand that you will never get the results you can make as with an PC...
Advise is to use those products with a rotary or Porter cable

Just my opinion, but I think you may have to wet sand those scratches, they look a little deep, but not being able to feel them i can't be certain. A PC or Rotary would make them appear a little better, but only wet sanding will remove them.

                        mustangless,

#83 needs to be applied using the PC using a speed of 4-5 on either a cutting pad (aggressive) or a polishing pad (less aggressive). You would probably want to follow it with either #80 or #82 but that's just my opinion.

                        Good Luck!
