Hello, just wanted to know, starting from scratch. Which will hide swirls and holograms much better by applying (working it in) by hand? NXT paste/Liquid or ColorX?

you arent hiding swirls. you are removing them. this is a huge debate. you actually remove the swirls.

its hard to believe that NXT Liquid/Paste and ColorX will REMOVE swirls/holograms, from reading the fourms, I believe it only fills in and hides the swirls and holograms.
ScratchX removes swirls/holograms by removing fine layer of the clear coat, but I asked about NXT Liquid/Paste and ColorX applied by hand.
I would like to read the posts? if you have the LINKS..... thanks
much regards.....

this is what Mike Phillips had to say about Colour-X in explaining what it will do.
its a cleaner/wax all in one. this will probably for the most part fill the swirls. but you really want to remove them.
but Colour-X and NXT is a great combo. nice shine and all.

Most retail waxes on the market are in a category called, Cleaner/Waxes. This is because the average person owns a daily driver, a car that is driven daily and thus parked outside at work and often times at home, as such the paint gets dirty over time, not loose dirt that will wash off but dirt that bonds to the paint at the microscopic level and actually stains the paint. Sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes it's not, but the fact is, the paint on daily driven cars gets dirty.
For this reason, most car waxes, especially the ones that you'll find in retail automotive stores, are cleaner/waxes, the reason for this is because the manufacture knows the paint on daily drives is dirty and the paint needs to be cleaned in order for the wax to bond better but also to improve the appearance so after the customer wipes the wax off the car looks good. If you apply a pure wax, or a wax without cleaners to a dirty car, it won't bond very well and it also won't look very good, at least not as good as it would if you pre-cleaned the paint. Problem is most people, the majority of people that was and wax their cars, (not serious enthusiasts), only want to do 2 things,
* Wash the car
* Wax the car
For this reason, the average car wax has to be a cleaner wax so that the customer will be happy, in order to be happy, they must see a visual difference in the before and after in the work they've done and they want to see water beading for a long time, the perception that the wax is lasting and the paint is protected.
Cleaner/waxes accomplish the above, some better than others. ColorX is a strong cleaner/wax that will tackle a wide spectrum of paint defects effectively in one application, thus it will make most people that use it happy.
Serious enthusiasts on the other hand are willing to do more steps to their car's paint to take their finish results to a higher level, for these people we can offer waxes without cleaners because they are willing to pre-clean their paint.

Re: Which fills/hides swirls much better? NXT? or ColorX?
I was Bimmerforums.com and somebody kept saying that 80 works great, but ALL it does is fill in the swirls. I think this misinformation started with autopia.org. So I decieded to put it to the test. I know Mike Phillips had done a similar test, but I really wanted to see for myself. 2000 Black GMC Jimmy Products Used:

Re: Which fills/hides swirls much better? NXT? or ColorX?
thanks for the posts, great LINKS......but, it talked about M#80, and not NXT Liquid/Paste or ColorX....
my question is, is M#80 very similar to NXT or ColorX?
(also, can M#80 be applied by hand or needs a orbital/rotary?)

NXT is a polymer used to give your car that show car finish and shine. it can reduce scratches and fine swirls but it is not designed to be used purely as cleaner.
M80 can REMOVE swirls and not just fill them.
Colour-X is a cleaner/was all in one step. will this remove swirls? maybe light swirls. in one easy step, colour-x is a polish and wax combo. it can help in removing fine scratches and swirls.
hope that helps.
so if you're looking for something to do quick short on time.
wash
clay
Colour-X
NXT x 2
if you have time and what to do the long route.
wash
clay
M80
M83 if needed
#6 or #7
NXT
but i'm not sure what results you want to achieve?
M80 can be applied by hand but i believe the general thinking is that its best by PC G-100.
hope this helps.
in the end though, i'd i would rather wash-clay-colour-x and then nxt as opposed to just wash-clay-nxt because then this way you're not actually cleaning your paint. you're just adding protection (nxt). know what i mean. by using the colour-x you're using a product that cleans and protects and then following that up with NXT onlygives you better cleaning and proection and durability.

By hand, ColorX or ScratchX would be best.
#80 does have a protective polymer in it, but unless we are working on fresh paint, it isnt really worth worrying about.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

so M#80 is very similar to ColorX?
i'm applying by hand by the way.
M80 is just a cleaner with enough oils that you don't need to apply pure polish following it but still need to apply wax.
with colour x you don't have to apply wax if you don't want to, although you'll get better results if you do.
