Which products are better for shine consumer or professional, and whats the diffrence?

It’s not a question of better or worse. It’s about matching the product to the situation.

The consumer products are formulated for use by the general public. They have to be easy to use and very tolerant of wide variations in technique. As such they can’t be overly aggressive or require specialized tools and training. They can produce superb results on finishes that don’t need extensive reconditioning.

The professional products are intended for use by people with specialized training. Some of them are very easy to use and totally safe, others need specialized tools and/or skills and, if used improperly, might do more damage than good. You need to know which products to use, when and how.

The professional products can address a much wider range of jobs but either line can produce great results.

All of Meguiars products will give a show car shine, even the simplest cleaner/wax, as long as they are applied properly, onto the appropriate surface.

Thats what the Detailer and Mirror Glaze lines do, they expand the ways to apply and the surfaces that can be worked on, and the cost effectiveness of doing so.

The one exception might be #7, which is probably the best pure polish available, and is a step above all the others.

#7, hum interesting, i use the deep crst. one right now, will i be able to tell the difference on a silver car?

Hard to say... Someone with a silver car might have to answer that.

You could tell the difference on black, black is the all telling paint color, you can notice very subtle changes with black.

I just detailed my silver truck last night. After removing all the light swirls from being in the dealers hands (I just got it) I applied #7 and topped with a carnuba (non-Meguiar's). It looks good, but honestly, I'm not sure I would have been able to tell a difference had I skipped the #7 step.

I think that the real differance is in what the individual is trying to achieve with there finish. How many notches they want to take it up so to speak.

Very intresting question to answer and some good anwsers so far....

Let me expand and see if I can help.

DC3 Carnuba < #26.... Both products smell similar and give similar results. I find the #26 is better all around do to the higher quality components, though I am not sure if its double the price better. Both apply easy and wipe off easy, #26 just deepens paint better.

DC2 Pure Polish < #07. Again, both products are similiar in smell. Again, #7 uses higher quality product and thus costs more. Does this produce a better, shinier finish? Yes, my a small amount. However, on lighter colored cars (silver, tan, white) you may notice any difference if you use a polish or not. The difference between #7/DC2 may not even be noticeable on a black car if the paint is in great shape. Also #7 is much harder to apply and remove. If your not doing a show car, the slight improvement (which may not be noticeable) of using #7 may not be the best choice.

Many pro's use consumer products (I use Quik Out, NXT window cleaner, NXT All Metal Polysh regularly, and occasionally use NXT Paste).

Many weekend warriors use pro line (G100, #83, #80) also.

I guess I'll just continue to happily use my DC2 until it runs out.
