  • Water Magnet not drying

I've had my water magnet towels for about 6 months now. The first couple of times I used them they dried great. However, the past two times I've used them they don't pick up water at all, even after a second run with a dry one. I wash them in cold water with Sonus microfiber detergent, just like I have always been doing, with a quick spin in the dryer on low heat for a few minutes to pick off any stray lint, then hung to dry. I just don't understand how all of a sudden they stopped "working" when I haven't started doing anything differently. My two towels have been used about a total of 4 times in their lifetime, stored clean in their own baggies.

Any ideas on what's going wrong with them, and suggestions on how to fix it? I'm getting kind of annoyed at this product...

really. i use two as well and have never had a problem.

i wash mine seperately using High Effiecency soap with warm/cold water and let them hang dry.

    that's weird.

maybe give Customer Service a call and see what they say.

Bizarre, isn't it? I didn't think a towel could basically stop working. *shrug*

Boil them, and add lots of vinegar to the rinse cycle.

I have the water magnet to and mine does dry ok. I use two towels to dry the vehicle's with. The first towel I use is a microfiber towel to get most of the water off. And the second towel is the water magnet to remove the rest of the water.

I have the same problem. When I first bought mine, it was AMAZING. Now, it just smears water around.

It won't even dry when the magnet itself is dry?

Yep. I dunno what's up... going to wash them again (since they were used yesterday) in hot water, and then stored them and try them out the next time I use them. Someone on another forum mentioned it could be waxed build up, although I am not sure that's the cause, so I figured I'll used some really hot water and try.

sometimes though its good to put vinegar in your washing machine to clean it out. if you use to much soap all the time it sort of works against you. how? not totally sure but the maytag service man one day was explaining it to me at my place and running all these tests. anyways, says, put cup or so of vinegar to clean it out.

The capillary action may stop working when you use the towels with a Wax-As-U-Dry type product or when you wipe down soapy water with them.

It is recommended to boil them for 5-10 minutes and then rinse them really well (first with vinegar, then with pure water). Don't worry, the fibers will be still healthy. The vinegar will help to get rid of the soap/wax residue and will make the towels fluffier.
