  • Too much work for Black?

I have a Black Truck with some fine swirls and micromarring. I have a PC and I would like to get some input on the following procedure to detail my truck.
    1.) #83
    2.) #80
    3.) #81
    4.) #7
    5.) #21
    6.) #21
    7.) #34 for maintainece

Is this overkill and too much work?
    What are your thoughts?

Here is a thread I think you will find very helpful.

You can just substitute the NXT Gen Tech Wax recommended with your #21. The best process can always be unique to each vehicle, but this is a good guide. Also keep in mind you may be able to skip the #83 Dual Action Cleaner/Polish depending on the condition of the paint.

Re: Too much work for Black?

i don't have much experience with M81 so i can't really comment on that.

but what i can say is what i'd do.

      Wash
      Clay

      TEST SPOT!!!

how do you know M80 won't work. i know you have micromarring but try it out first. always do test spot. you might need two passes of M80. always least aggressive product first.

      then

      Wash
      Clay
      M80 - if this doesn't work
      M83
M80 - to get rid of any streaks/hazing M83 might leave
      NXT x 2
      M21

personally tha'ts what i would do. might save you a bit of time.

for mainteance, M34 is good enough with an MF. you're good in between waxes to use that or QD or Speed Detailer. which ever you perfer or even Spray Waxes.

#7 and #81 are both pure polishes so you'd only use one or the other, not both.

You may not need either if you use #80 first.

        PC.

          PC.
so i didn't wanna say for sure about 81 but that was my thought.

and as other pc said M80 has enough oils in it so you dont even need to really use a pure polish.

by all means you can if you want and it might add some more shine to your vechile's finish, but not entirely needed. if you have the time try it out and see for yourself. but by that point you may be getting tired so you can skip it.

just do a nice job using M80.

80, 7, then 2 coats of 21 should be the answer to all your problems

Try 80 first in a test spot. 81 and 7 are pure polishes. I am working on a black Taurus now.
              Isn't black fun?

I would agree with a couple of other guys on here that you definitely don't need 7 and 81 and most likely don't really need either if your really thourough with 80.

                Here's what I would do:

                Wash
Clay (you never mentioned this, but very important)
                83 (if needed)
                80
                21
                26
16 (if you can find some)

I love this combo on my car. Works great and leaves a great finish.

Re: Too much work for Black?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the input. I will try #80 in a test spot first to see if this does the trick. I can see now that #7 and #81 are about the same. I have used #7 before so maybe I will try the #81 to see how this works or even it is necessary to use this. I have some #26 available, so maybe I will apply this over the 2 coats of #21 after it has cured.
Once again, Thanks for the feedback!
