There may be several reasons the swirls remain. Such as: the paint could be very hard, a more aggressive product like #83 DACP is needed etc... Some swirls may be too deep and require someone skilled with the rotary buffer.
What pad did you use?
If I were you, I would use Meg's #83 DACP, a W-8006 Polishing Pad with the PC set to speed 5.5
Work the DACP until only a slight haze/residue remains. Wipe off with a quality MF towel.
You know I had gone over my car with #83 and the PC a few times, which made them much less noticable, but they still remained so I had pretty much given up on complete swirl elimination as my car was a demo vehicle at the beginning of it's life, then a lease vehicle that came back and sat on a dealership lot for many months so who only knows what happened to the poor thing in it's early life. And at the auction where I bought it I witnessed the mobil "detail" guys wipe dust off of it with a dry towel. Plus I didn't really want to take too much clear off of the car as it was already very thin to begin with.
Well, a few days ago I got a demo of a product I hadn't tried before with my local rep. The product was professional quick detailer (not the spray on consumer product). Using a rotary at 1400 rpm we had the hood done in a few minutes, and it looked good inside the garage, pulled it outside and I was amazed after all that the swirls were gone! Oddly enough this is only a 4 on the cleaning scale which is much lighter than #83. Just goes to show you they can come out, it just might take a little more aggressiveness. Follow the least aggressive product scale and you should be able to get them out eventually.
