#80 on an orbital is perfectly fine. I'm not too sure about the wool bonnet though. Someone else might have to answer that one. I used #80 with my orbital for the first time last weekend on an orange light cutting pad and the result was amazing.
Hi Daniel....the Random Orbital/ DA (Dual Action) are similar machine. And no don't use the wool pad. Wool pads are for cutting & to be use on a Rotary Buffer only. U can use the Meguiars W8006 Polishing Pad with M80 Speed Glaze. And work the M80 till it turns translucent - going to dry but still a bit wet. TQ.

I think he means it is a 10" buffer not a Pc or G100.
I do not believe that has enough power. You can try. They are great for appling wax.
I've owned an orbital, so I'll give you a summary.
Yes, you can use #80 with an orbital.
NO, DO NOT USE A WOOL BONNET!!! I've seen them advertised and I have yet to understand why they even make them. The orbital does not have nearly enough power to do any sort of heavy cleaning. The orbital is not meant for compounding or moderate to heavy cleaning. It is meant to spread out the product evenly and at a better pace than by hand. It will also work the product a little more into the paint.
As for bonnets, I use terry cloth bonnets for everything. I have used a foam bonnet to apply waxes and it worked really well. However, do not use it for anything but applying waxes.
hmm.. now I understand why we cant use wool on orbital hehehe.. I want to ask, does orbital polisher's pad can be changed?because my orbital polisher's pad is sticked with glue onto the head of the machine. this is sound right?
Your orbital pad should be permanent. I have seen people remove the pad and then apply velcro strips to the plate. This allows the user to use the pads normally reccommended for a PC or rotary. While I never did this, it sounds like maybe a good idea.
After five months of constant use, I got tired of it and bought a PC. The results are much better with a PC than an orbital. Although, everything to use a PC is much more expensive than the orbital.
Orbital - $40
Bonnets - $10 for four
Total: $50
PC - $105 with backing plate
Pads - $50 for 6
Total: $155
I want the PC very badly! But in Indonesia,I cant find PC. They all sells orbital or rotary. No one have distribute this product to Indonesia. If I bought it over internet the price is double!with the shipment and tax.. it will be around $200.. and it not with the pad... so,i wont risk it with rotary.. so i buy orbital hehehe.. we were so difficult to find Car Care stuff here.. just last week i have information from meguiars in indonesia.. they sell G100 around $600, it just only rumour.. so we in indonesia didnt have DA polisher =(
Guys I got a GoldStar Electric disk sander with 2000rpm... it came with a soft cloth head... Got it from a customer that cant pay his debts. Well, im just wondering since i already have this can i use it to polish my car?
Wow.. thx bernard78, i've seen thos bosch orbital sanders in indonesia. can we use it to polish or buffer a car? may a iknow the series off your Bosch? You live in Malaysia?we were neighbours hahaha.. so is there a PC in Malaysia?

An orbital will do you fine. Can you get Bosch, GMC, or Ryobi in Indonesia? Each of these companies have very good orbital machines. Be careful with shipping electrical equipement from overseas. You should check if you need a voltage converter and they can get very expensive. I think the Bosch is a PEX400AE. The GMC is what I use and is ROS150M and comes with 4" and 5" interchangable backing plates and the Ryobi is a ERO750VK. Thats just some of what we have available here in Australia.
Hi MI DOG, my Bosch is GEX 270 AE. It's variable speed (1 to 6) 7500 - 12000 OPM. We mostly in M'sia use this machine to Polish & Wax. It's 240volt. But it's quite noisy. The Black & Decker is very silent but the speed only 4400 OPM. 1 speed only. I usually use the B&D for waxing.
Bosch speed:
Polish - speed 2
Waxing - speed 1
Another unit of RO/DA u can get is the Ryobi RSE1250.
U can only get the Porter Cable from Singapore. But u will need a 500w power converter transformer. But th PC will cost us about RM800 overall. The power converter is bout RM100. U might else well get the Rotary Buffer bout RM600 - RM700.
Wow.. PC! even from singapore it cost expensive!in indonesia i can find bosch orbital. first, i think it only use for sanding hohoho.. is it still "idiot proof" like PC or G100? does bosch orbital polisher backing plate can be change?and PC OPM is between 2500-6000 but bosch is 6000-12000, is it safe for polising a car?
