You only want to apply thin coats, thick coats just waste product and make removal more difficult.

Your paint can only hod so much wax, after that you're just wiping it on and off. There's a good thread about this in Hot Topics with the word "Layering" in the title.

This is so true. Applying more wax than the paint can hold is truly alot of work for nothing. I never understood that concept until recently. That phrase, "paint will only hold so much" says it all. QD is what brought the notion of keeping the shine clear provided the proper foundation of a clean, polished and protected surface is in place.

Mike, the efficacy of technique from preparation to the final stage is indeed the gateway to obtaining spectacular results. I can't thank you and the contributors of this forum enough for that. My only comment, meant constructively for your successor(s) is that it is EXTREMELY difficult to navigate through all the product offerings. I understand personal preferences, but short of buying alot of potentially costly products, it would serve Meguairs well to provide a road map to the product line for novices. I have a drawer full of Meguairs product that I may never use. I settled on #7, #21 and #26 (because I just like carnuba). The #21 is simply awesome in the literal sense of that word. After a good polish with #7 of course....

This I understand, but when can you tell that you have reached the point where your paint can't hole any more wax?
