  • Wheelshine..

I just bought a real nice set of 2.nd hand wheels, OZ Opera 2 19".
    These are painted, no chrome.

I`m planning on making these look as good as they possibly can before summer. Never done this kind of work on wheels, so i need some input.

-All metal polish. -Is this safe to use on the wheel`s paint?
Should I wax them when I`m done?
If I want to make a really shiny rim, what do I use?

What`s the best and most enduring product for the tires? I want a dark and shiny look THAT LASTS! -I see Meguiar`s has a long list of products for this purpose, which one should I go for?

    thanks, J

If they are painted, you can use a clearcoat safe wheel cleaner, then clay, clean, wax, just like paint.

But would using for example "all metal polish" on it be a bad idea?
I want to make them shine!

        Re: Wheelshine..

Well, if they are painted/clearcoated all over, then you are working on paint, not metal.

Now, if they have an unpainted area, you could clay, then use the Nxt Metal Polysh on it.

But for all the painted areas, your best bet is to treat them like paint.

hmmm. Well, are they "painted"? Or is that just aluminum?

I dunno from that pic. You probably would want to call the manufacturer.

              Re: Wheelshine..

              I wil check it out.
But let`s assume thatr they are just aluminum. -Is all metal polysh the product to use? or do I need something harder or softer to get some shine of them?
The set I bought look somewhat duller thatn these on the pic, all though it`s the same product.

                Re: Wheelshine..

For bare metal, Nxt Metal Polysh is fantastic. It is safe for clearcoats, but probably not the best option.

What is most likely/normal? Just aluminum or painted?

                    Re: Wheelshine..

Probably 50/50 with that kind of wheel.

Incidently, do you or a friend, etc, have any kind of paint cleaner or metal polish there at all already?

You could do a tiny dab on a test spot, and see if your cloth turns black. If it turns very black with soot it would be bare metal. Clear, or just a mild dirty gray would be clearcoated.
