  • Scratches in plastic

Hi guys, I tryed using PlastX on the clear prective lens on my welder helmet to remove a few scratches and it made it worse! I used a clean Microfiber towel to apply it and then removed it using the clean side. I gently rubbed in a randon motion and after I buffed it off, I now see tons of fine scratches. Any advise? I'm kind of scared to use it on my truck headlights and tail lights after seeing what it did to my helmet. Thanks.

I'm willing to bet that your helmet's lens has some sort of protective coating on it that the PlastX probably affected. I've used it on a lot of headlights and had no trouble yet.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I have had great results on headlights. There are so many different types of plastic that it is hard to judge it with one try. I have read about issues with interior gage covers. The only thing I can think of is possible a coating on your helmet. Photos of your helmet might help to see what suggestions you can get to fix it.
