Hi there... First off what products do you have?? I see nxt, quick wax and detailer. Any polishes? Next would be what are you trying to accommplish? Then do you have any specific problems you'd like to correct? Additionally how much time and cash do you want to invest?

The answers to those questions should give you a road map to where you want to go and how to get there. I'll give you the products I've had good luck with

#83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish for fine rubbing compound buff mark removal
#82 Swirl Free Polish to remove minor webbing
#81 Hand Polish to replace #7 show car glaze. #7 was a bit more difficult to remove.
My topper of choice is NXT
All products cept #81 applied with PC. NXT removed with PC.

Please feel free to fire away with questions...

WHAT ABOUT COLOR X INSTEAD OF #80. MEGUIARS PRODUCTS ARE LIMITED UNTIL JIM LAWSON, ONE OF THE MEGUIAR SHOW REPS, GETS BACK HOME.

I haven't used #80 yet. Colorx is awesome for oxidized and SS paint. Colorx is a different animal I think. Mostly a aggressive chemical cleaner. #80 has a bit more abrasives in it as it rates as a 4 on the aggressive scale (I'm just fishin here.). I've only seen and heard good thing about #80. I will use it this weekend.

To answer your questions. Products: QW, QD, GOLD CLASS WAX, CLEADNER/WAX LIQUID AND PASTE, SCRATCH X, NXT TECH WAX, NXT BOOSTER WAX, COLOR X, DEEP CRYSTAL SOAP, SOAP STRIPS AND MF TOWELS.

I don't mind spending money for good products and time for good results. I have some fine swirls and have used the Scratch X for minor scratches followed by wax with great results.

Your off to a good start. I still think you should try a good #8?s polish to aid in fine swirl removal. I've found scratchx ok for small isolated problems but it can be used over the entire car.. Just takes time without PC..

Just wondering why the so called hand polishes cannot be applied with a PC. I thought that a PC imitated hand motions. What makes a hand polish anyway?
I sometimes judge people by the cleanliness of their car.

PC does imitate hand motions. The only product that I'm aware of that shouldn't be applied by PC is scratchx as it will gum up from the heat I'd guess.

I apply #81 by hand for now. I haven't used #81 lately but next time I do will be with the PC.

What other hand polishes are you referring to? There are some pro line products that shouldn't be applied cept with the rotary.

Thanks! This was one of those jobs you do to get something out of it. I saw this car and said "I can make that look better". I asked the owner if I could wax the car for him he said sure. The what's in it for me was two fold. 1. Great before and after pic opportunity 2. Really gave the Colorx and NXT a good test as I've never used colorx yet. Now I can see how long it will last. The owner was pleased and dropped a nice tip.
