    Hi

I have a makita bo6040 polisher with lake country pads(whole range).

    Products:
    deep crystal paint cleaner
    deep crystal polish
    gold class liquid wax
    scratch x

Car is a white 1987 toyota corolla which doesnt look like is has been maintained in a long time. Should I use scratchx for the whole car with the polisher witha white polishing pad? what speed roughly on the makita in random orbital mode?

I bought all the products before I had access to the makita. What would be recommended for future purchase? #80,#83?

Scratch X is meant to be used by hand with a lot of passion behind you work. it takes at time several passes so its a lot of work.

if you have a machine, 80 and 83 are your best bet.

you'll find you'll read on here how some guys use M80 as a base to any detail. its easy on the finish, won't marr paint and helps in removing swirls.

so for future purchase, i'd pick up M80, M83 and a PC G100.

As long as you have the new formula ScratchX and not an old tube you can use it with your machine. Look at the tube and if the instructions say it can be applied by machine you're good to go. The Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner can also be used by machine.

You can use the ScratchX for the whole car. You could also just use it on the areas where you want to remove swirls and scratches and use the Deep Crystal for the rest.

Hopefully, somebody with experience using the BO6040 can chime in on settings and such.

If you don't get any better suggestions you can probably start by trying a speed around two thirds of the way up the dial and adjusting it from there.

Start with a test spot, about 30cm x 30 cm, and see how it goes.

      PC.

Cheers. Looks like I have the old scratch x. Tried it with the machine, ended up being hard to remove so I wont be using that anymore with the polisher. I see the link with the PC speeds. I guess I can just try and find out what rpm speed 5 on the pc is and then set that speed on the makita.
