You have come to the right place and while I am still very much wet behind the ears compared to most that you find on this forum all have been more then helpful in resolving any question that I have had to date.

Lets see some pictures but I'll start things off with my ride which I would trade it for a new bow tie if I could afford it.

Next to red yellow is a darn good looking color for a car.

        Re: New

        To get a show car shine you need to;

Make the paint as smooth as possible.

Make the clear coat as clear as possible.

Remove as many below surfase defects as possible. This would include swirls and scratches.

Are you working by hand or machine?

What condition is your paint in right now?

Very very nice set of wheels, and the black rims look great against the yellow

welcome to mol. You have a nice car. This is the place to give it that "show car shine" that enthusiasts are after.

We changed the title of your thread to something that would actually describe what the thread was about and moved it to Detailing 101, hope you don't mind.

If you're using what we call a traditional orbital buffer, like the kind you pay about $30.00 for at Sears or K-Mart, then here's what you can do,

                      Wash the car
                      Clay the car if needed

Next, use your orbital buffer and the appropriate bonnets, a clean/new bonnet for each chemical/step, and apply these products in this order

ScratchX - Make sure the label states its the "new" version that can be used by machine.
                      Deep Crystal Polish
A wax of your choice, we would recommend NXT Tech Wax Liquid

When applying the ScratchX and the Deep Crystal Polish, apply to a panel at a time and then remove, there is no need to let paint cleaners and polishes dry.

When applying the wax, you can apply to the entire car and then allow it to fully dry and then remove. Waxes need to dry. Read this: The Swipe Test

Let us know how your results go or if you would like to try some different products than those listed.

The pictures make your Corvette look pretty good, but pictures can be deceiving, for example,

1960 Corvette - How To Restore Single Stage Acrylic Lacquer Paint

We often see questions about how to work on older single stage paints like Lacquer paint, or which product to use on non-clear coated single stage paint.

Hopefully this little write-up will share with you the products and techniques to safely work on single stage paints like the 20 year old acrylic lacquer finish on this restored 1960 Corvette.

First, when we arrived and looked at this car while it was parked in the garage, the finish looked really nice as does the overall car.

However, after asking the owner/restorer to drive the car out into the sun where we can better see a more accurate representation of the true condition of the paint, here's what our camera captures...

So how does the paint on your Corvette look when you place the sun directly onto the finish?

It doesn't look that bad, but it does have some swirls and some scratches. Oh, thanks for the info. I am going to detail the Corvette this weekend. I will post pics before and after The Detail.

If you can, get a "Sun Shot" before and after on a horizontal surface like the hood or the deck lid. This is how everyone judges the quality of your finish.
