  • Da Pad Question

I was over browsing at Meguiars.com trying to figure out what I needed for when the weather breaks and found this

What product would you use with this and what kind of results would be expected. Is this new to the line? I didn't see it when I originally bought my DA.

    Re: Da Pad Question

    hi there,

you don't actually use that pad on your car.

it'll leave hazy marks on your paint's finish if you do.

but because that pad is nice and firm (compared to the W8006 and W9006) you use that pad as a finishing pad covered with a Microfibre Bonnet to polish off your wax.

    hope that helps.

      Re: Da Pad Question

Really? From the description I was understanding that it would remove defects. What I'm trying to figure out is: is it more aggressive than the W8006 and W9006 and if so would you need to use a more aggressive product. I was really trying to compare the three pads and see if anyone had tried them and what results they got and what were the products used.
      Thanks

        i am with TrufflePig...

Meguiars doesn't recommend using the 7006 pad with a PC unless you are using it with a bonnet for removing products.

You can use the 7006 with a rotary polisher and the proper techniques. You may find on other forums some have used the 7006 with there PC some have had good luck while others have not. IMO, Its best to stick with the manufactures recommendations.

okay, you DO NOT USE THAT PAD on your paint's finish.

i'm sure people have, but that was probably back in the day and then soon realized and the word spread.

it can leave hazy streaky marks in your paint's finish.

you use it only to REMOVE THE WAX with a MF BONNET COVER.

          quick cheat sheet.

To remove wax, you'll need a W7006 (Purple) pad, and 1 (2pk) of X4003 MF bonnets. you place the bonnet over the pad, and remove the wax, in the same manner you put it on. ***Warning Never use the purple pad on your finish by itself. It will marr your finish, and the G100 will not take those marks out. ***

The pads by itself are not designed to be used to remove wax. Since the polish or paint cleaners lubricate the pad, I would think if they were dry (since that's how you would use it) would marr the finish. Not recommended!

If you can't get the purple pad and bonnet, you'll get just as good results if you used a high quality MF towel and remove by hand. Don't get to caught up on the bonnet thing. Use what you have (your hands and a MF towel). They work just as good. You can always pick that stuff up later, and it's not necessary.

As for the pads they don't change with color of the vehicle.

Purple Pad #7006 - This is only used to remove wax with a bonnet as I described.
          Yellow Pad #W8006 - For paint cleaners and cleaner/polishes #80 #83 #9
Tan Pad #W9006 - For Polishes, and waxes. #3 #7 GC Wax NXT Wax

          best of luck...

          once again.

as Mike says, think of the pads as a stop sign. You see RED (#7006) YOU STOP!!! Same as at a street light right!!!

            Re: Da Pad Question

Thank You. I have used some of my other pads and a MF bonnet to remove wax or polish b/4. It just struck me as odd that I had never seen the red one before. Thanks for the reply. I won't use it, unless I get it as a dedicated remover with a MF bonnet.

            Thanks

I think Mike put it this way at the class, the cutting pad removes defects too well...or in other words DONT USE IT ON YOU CAR. as others said use it with a Microfiber Bonnet to remove waxes
